@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

when does the debit orders go though, i still owe lantic this months R60.00 for uncapped :P

I've had a Gig4Gig account since last year - very happy with it.
Received my statement today via e-mail.

Have you guys received your statements yet, as I'm interested in getting this bolt-on when Telkom increase their speeds. I'd like to know if you were charged correctly for a normal account vs. the bolt-on.
(owing to the fact that on the 1st few pages of this thread, problems were experienced in allocation of data).

Please advise if your accounts are correct.

Btw, you can always access your @lantic profile and e-mail the statement to yourself via :

..... for ISP selection, just select the @lantic branch you signed up with.

Here is a copy from my bill (emailed to me by following your instructions). Perhaps you can help me since there is a few things I do not understand. Under 30 days it shows that I have a debit of R59.00. On the 22 June I am billed R89.99. I never went over my cap of 1GB at any one moment. What in the world does this mean? Also why does it show R59.00 under 30 days, but R148.99 under balance. Shouldn't these two be the same? Sorry, but the items do not line up correctly when posted, but I believe you will be able to decipher this. :)

NOTE: The outstanding amounts are calculated as of 2012-06-21 13:45:45
Payments received after this date are not reflected

Thanks for the feedback - the figures don't add-up on the face of it.

I'd suggest e-mailing them for answers on [email protected]
I think you can Cc your branch on the branch name @lantic.net (eg. [email protected] ; [email protected])

They might reply sooner, but you should get an automated reply from 'accounts' followed by someone addressing your concerns, thereafter.

It seems like at least partial mis-allocation to me, but there may be a pro-rata charge hidden within the figures as well. (if you didn't start the Gold service exactly on the 21st of the month).

Hope this helps.

Again, seems they've mis-allocated (if you only used the uncapped over 1GB), something they seemed to have promised wouldn't happen, based on earlier posts around pgs. 1 - 4 of this thread.

Something that seems strange with your bill, is that they've charged you for 12GB.
When I signed-up, the max. I could use was 5GB on the same package - I think they've upped it since then to a max. of 10GB, so if that's true, how can they be charging you for an extra 2GB. I'd query that with them as well as possible mis-allocation.
Best to e-mail them with the details as outlined in my prior post.

Please post their response/s & outcome, so it can help others on this thread know if & when sorted out.

Good afternoon guys

Please do email us at [email protected] with your account details (System ID or ADSL username) and one of our accounts/billing agents can investigate further for you and get back to you asap.

I can't really say here what the problem is as it could be an isolated issue or a problem on our systems as the billing is done automatically.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Thanks, I am just waiting for my official bill from Atlantic. Then I will query them. I did start in the middle of the month, but it appears as if the extra R89,99 is for extra packet data used. I am quite sure that I have not strayed outside the 6pm-6am window when downloading, but I must wait to see. How detailed are their bills?

How detailed are their bills?

You can get complete invoices & narrations, though those narrations are (from memory) a replica of what's described on your statement.

Something I've never quite understood with @lantic, is that their statements are generated before their invoices - or at least, they appear within your profile, before the invoices do.

So, sometime after the 23rd of each month - usually from about the 25th, you can get your statement (via logging into your profile), but the invoices making up 0-30 days total (ie. current invoices) are only available from about the 28th - 30th, from my experience.

Whenever you log on (like you would've earlier today), click on Billing Information, Cash Account, and if your invoices are there, they'll be under Invoices Received, otherwise you'll have to try the next day, or one thereafter, from about the 28th onwards.

You might find that part of your total on the first statement is made up of the original admin. charge for setting up your account - R45 to R50 each, for the Gold & Uncapped. However, you'd have had to of paid that up-front so it shouldn't still reflect as outstanding.

They seem more than willing to sort out whatever may be wrong, so pls. keep us informed, when you can.

Atlantic should be commended for their service. My account was incorrect. They added 2GB to my Package data (meaning an extra R89.99 being added to the monthly charge of R59). I emailed them and I just received notice that I only have to pay R59. This is a great service. I downloaded around 70Gb for the month. I am in a 24 month contract with Telkom, so I have no choice in ISP's, but Atlantic offers me a great additional service - for very little. There is no other ISP that offers Uncapped for that amount. I wrote some scripts that automatically connects and disconnects at the required times. Works great.

May be great service for now, but unless they correct the way in which data you've used is captured by their billing system, you're going to be incorrectly billed every month, and will need to e-mail them for credits.

You, and other's using this new uncapped service, need to ensure @lantic have corrected the fault at its source, just like they initially needed to ensure the split between capped & uncapped data, was corrected.

Perhaps you are correct, but at least they do solve the problems that do crop up very effectively. I am happy. :D

Hi,

Although @lantic has promised that their billing will be sorted, they are still charging me incorrectly.

If you don't mind me asking:

1) Can you connect between 6pm-6am or still only 8pm-6am?
2) Are your scripts created for a windows environment? Do you mind sharing on how to do write such scripts on my PC?

Thanks!

I also kinda have this problem.

I ONLY connect after 6pm and disconnect 6am. My bolt on usage last month was well over 250GB and my packet usage was 1.65GB which is not right but I didn't query it cause it will be a hasle and its only R30 extra.

Now when I checked my usage my package usage is more than 5.5GB already for this month although I have set the limit to 1GB.

Now I'm going to get upset cause it going to get a headache to query every month and if you forget to query you will be billed incorrectly.

My Packet data is also incorrect at this time. Mine shows 1.46Gb, which is not possible. Also, I put an 80% alert threshold on my data-cap of 1Gb, so I should have received a email or something at 800Mb (I also checked my Spam folder - no email). I will however wait and see what happens.

I am careful not to connect to Atlantic during 6am to 6pm. I am also worried about the incorrect billing issue, but at least the previous errors were corrected. Although, I hope so. I received an email from Atlantic stating that I only had to pay the R59, but I took a peek at my online statement and it still shows that I owe R44.99. I trust they will improve this. Perhaps Vox could give us a bit more info here. Also, how do I prove that I did not stray over the allotted times? Trying yo add up a months worth of session information is not fun.

Still, I am happy with the service. Speeds are good and nobody else offers me uncapped anywhere near this cheap. The closest competitor I could find is R190 p/m (1M line).

2) Are your scripts created for a windows environment? Do you mind sharing on how to do write such scripts on my PC?

Yes, I do it in Windows. I make use of Robot-Soft's Automatic Mouse and Keyboard. It is not really cheap ($29) but it works a treat. Here is the link http://www.robot-soft.com/automatic-mouse-keyboard.html

There is a bit of a learning curve, but I managed just fine. I make use of Windows Scheduler to run the scripts. The only issue with Scheduler is that you run AutoMouseKey.exe from Scheduler and add your scripts path as an optional Argument. If you add the script at the wrong place Scheduler does not run it. Hope this helps a bit. I created a few scripts. One for connecting to Telkom just before Six in the Morning (if my PC is on) and one to connect to Atlantic after 6pm. If I download large files during the night (which will not complete before six in the morning) I switch my script to simply disconnect Atlantic (it does not reconnect to Telkom to avoid downloading a lot of data from my Telkom Cap if I am not in time to stop it :) )

Unfortunately, you'll be waiting until the end of time for that e-mail to come through - this is something that's never worked. You can set it to 50% (like I did, as a test) or lower, and you won't get that mail, or SMS.

The list of negative issues concerning @lantic's billing system is growing, however I'd be more concerned with having to query the statement each month owing to the errors in splitting capped vs uncapped.
At this rate, I'm never going to sign up for the uncapped bolt-on - the capped at 5 or 10 Gigs works fine on its own, though.

I admit I did 3.5gb during peak time, but like you, my usage has now spiked to 5.26gb for this month :(

Thanks for the advice :)
I have a windows PPPOE connection setup, so I'm sure there is a way to do it with a batch file and the task scheduler. I just haven't managed to find a bullet-proof way yet to make it work :(
