@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

I'm sure this is what is going to happen but I want to see when they bill me. I'm connecting @ 6:15pm and disconnecting 6am every day and weekends I will be connected the whole weekend ect ect. So if I get a HUGE bill or get capped I know they are messing it up so badly but lucky I have a copy of the stuff I signed and the product I took that say it will switch 6pm at night. Surely my connection logs will show this too if I am never connected during the day.

Without a doubt. The logs do show. If you log into your account at www.lantic.net, you will find the logs there, and it clearly shows the time of your internet activity. I am quite interested to see what will happen. I am also logging in after 8pm to see if it makes a difference.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I did not notice this before posting my original post:

My initial period of usage on my account was from 14 to 20 MAY. (Periods reset every 21st of the month)
In that period, I kept to downloading between 6pm and 6am (except for the morning of the 16th where I had put a wrong setting in, and downloaded around 4gb during "peak time")

I just checked and I have been billed for 9gb of usage (R135 total). I am not sure where the extra 5gb came from, but I do remember that at the end of the 20th, my usage was on 8.29gb (I had actually watched this climb to 5.2gb and then 8.29gb during downloads between 6pm-8pm). So I am guessing I was charged as per the "package usage" amount.

Just putting the warning out there - I was clearly charged for the usage that was reported in my "package usage", even though I downloaded between 6pm-6am.

If any of you want to test the "theory" of whether you will be billed or not, please don't let your your "package usage" get too high. Rather let it go to 2 or 3 gigs, and then only connect manually after 8pm. If you get charged for those 2-3 gigs at the end of the month, it will be a lot less of an expense...

[ ADSL Usage Information ]
Total Usage 24.10 Gb
Package Usage 2.85 Gb
Bolt On Usage 21.25 Gb

As can seen here I did get charged to package usage for usage between 6pm-8pm but it looks like it did in fact automatically switch over. That said it wasn't exactly u8pm maybe like 8:40pm.

I just logged in and here is my usage stats as of today:

[ ADSL Usage Information ]
Total Usage 0.63 Gb
Package Usage 0.00 Gb
Bolt On Usage 0.63 Gb

I connected last night after 8 and watched some youtube videos. I am still very worried about the idea that they will "fix" the Package/Uncapped data at the end of every month. I am not in the mood to query my bill every single month

Just a further update re the "usage limit"

I set the usage limit to 1gb yesterday to see what would happen and the following occurred:

1) When I checked today, my "package usage" went up from around 2.8gb yesterday, to 22.51gb today (it seems that when it hit the 1gb point sometime after 6, all the usage that I used after that last night counted toward "package usage", even though I reconnected after 8pm again).

2) During the day, I had no internet access on this account (as expected, as I went above my "usage limit"... well, not really above my usage limit as I never used anything out of the 6pm-6am time bracket, but as said before, it reports "package usage" anytime before 8pm).

3) I reconnected at 6pm, and internet remained unusable. I then tried to connect after 8pm, and internet has started working again. I had to manually reconnect after 8pm.

So it seems that even if you hit your "usage limit", internet will work after 8pm. (I still do not know why the usage jumped to 22gb, but we have all been assured that that will be removed at month end... so we will have to wait and see)

That is exactly the thing that worried me. I asked the technician from Atlantic that phoned me about this. He assured me that it would be no problem. Either he misunderstood my question, or Atlantic underestimates the problem they are facing.

I also went online last night, but I am a bit more cautious in using the data, and my data is correctly allocated to my Bolt-on. My Package data is still standing on 0.0Gb and my Bolt On is standing on 0.75GB. My data limit is also set to 1GB, so tonight I will go online to see what happens if I cross over the 1GB limit. Atlantic has a potentially brilliant product with this, but there is so much gremlins they have to work out first. If they cannot fix this I will probably move on somewhere else.

I got the same thing. My package usage is already 6GB even though I have set my limit to 1GB and I still have access during the day but I don't connect during the day. I just connect after 6pm.

I also told the support guy that my package data is going up even after 6pm and he assured me that its updating correctly and I also wonder if he just not understanding what I am saying or what. Anyways. Waiting for the bill. I will make a very big noise if they get it wrong cause of their ignorance......

Strangely my data is allocated correctly. I download a big file last night and when I checked this morning my Bolt On data stood on 1.25GB and my Package data still showed 0Gb. I am currently saving my Package data and I still have some data from another ISP left which I want to use first during day hours. It is just before 6am and I am downloading a file of just over 150MB. I will not finish downloading before 6am. So I am going to leave this download to finish. Then I will be able to see exactly what happens. I will post the results here when it is updated on their system

Very interesting. My data is correctly allocated after last night and this mornings downloads. My Bolt-on is standing at 1.46Gb. I will really press the download this weekend to see what happens.

hope to have 6mb line today(really doubt it, going though wa), want to really hammer the account :P

Since this morning All my usage is correctly calculated.........

[ ADSL Usage Information ]
NOTE:The information here may be out of sync from
information found on www.saix.net by 1 hour.
Package Usage 0.01258 Gb
Bolt On Usage 43.61048 Gb
Total Usage 43.62306 Gb

All my usage they had under package usage that was after 6pm just after a few days it seem went to bolt on as can seen from my usage....

@ Alkit: Is your data usage still showing incorrectly?

I just checked. Seems like some sort of update was done as they have added in:
"NOTE:The information here may be out of sync from information found on www.saix.net by 1 hour." and usage is not rounded to 2 decimal places as before.

Anyway, "package usage" has gone down from 22.51GB to 6.48GB (Still not correct, but far better than 22.51gb).

I am also eager to see if the 6pm-8pm issue has been resolved. Will have to test out properly after the w/e.

Hats of to Atlantic. It appears as if they've got this thing licked. I really hope so!

I they did then I'm so happy right now. This account is everything I hoped for but didn't think that I will actually get it.

Epic will defenitly recommend this account. Its fast ppl.

Just to update you guys on my previous posts:

1) I emailed them about the 9gb that they claim I used last period. (As stated before, I only used 4gb). Not only did they not respond to my email, but they actually charged my credit card today for the full 9gb.
2) I just emailed them now about my package usage. It is at 6.48GB (as per my previous post), but it should be only a few megabytes at most.

I have emailed them AGAIN regarding the 2 issues above... Will let you know when/if I receive a response

In the meantime - enjoy a happy downloading weekend ahead :)

This is weird. I was phoned personally every time I emailed them regarding a query. Every single time they phoned me within a 24 hour period. I am quite impressed so far, even with the dubious billing system (which I believe are only a temporary problem). I hope you get this sorted.

Uncapped weekend....... Yes plz. Starts now.... :-)
