@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

rasdial :D

With an easy batch script this baby can do wonders.

Yep, that's what I was running, but seems to have its moods. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think if it times out or if there is an error etc, it just gives up instead of trying again :(

There are ways. Retry counts etc etc... used it at a client of mine. Of course it does help to have a fail-safe eg. netlimiter or whatnot. Back in the day when I was on vacation I used a forced timer to reset my PC every 24 hours (to keep things fresh) and then rasdial to manage my connections as needed. I set up scripts to send me an email every time with the new ip so that I could manage/watch my download queues. The one time I did not receive my email I knew something was wrong ... but the email before that was from my UPS alerting me to a power outage. As soon as the power was restored my PC started up again and I got my email and my downloads was running again. :D

There is always a way with plain old notepad and cmd.

After I emailed them about the usage that is wrong they simply replied to my email saying please find the usage below as requested? Maybe they don't understand what I'm saying. They are getting me angry a bit now. The account is a masterpiece but their billing is a disaster to be honest.

You should PM Vox with this. Perhaps he can help you. I was a bit luckier when I queried my bill. Hope you get this sorted. It is a great account... billing is a problem (but currently not big enough for me to consider moving)

Hi there cavedog

Please PM me your contact details and I will get one of our @lantic accounts people to give you a call and sort this out for you.

And if possible, can you include a reference number for the email you sent? I'm sure there is just a misunderstanding, but I would like to follow up on that as well.

Hi there Vox,

I am busy slogging through my Session Info for May and June to see where I am being charged for Packet Usage. It is a real chore. Do you think it could be possible to allow for some color changes in the data? For instance, it would be great (and beneficial for future queries) if for example all Packet sessions could show up Red and all Bolt-On Sessions remain black. This would greatly enhance our ability to check our accounts. It appears as if there were times I was logged in after 6am and downloaded quite some data. I was not aware of this... but slowly working through every session is really a huge pain. Every date must be checked to see if it falls over a weekend or weekday etc. etc.

If at all possible, could you please take my idea under advisement. I do not think it should be so hard to display the data in different colors. Thanks

Good morning sjpslabbert

That is a great idea and I will bring it to the developers' attention :)

@Vox ....

1.) Can you confirm the split in data between a Gig4Gig account & a bolt-on is accurately being recorded on your systems ?
2.) The billing which follows thereafter is likewise accurate ?

As mentioned in a prior post of mine, when Telkom increase their speeds, I'm keen to get the bolt-on as I've had a Gig4Gig for months now - been generally satisfied with it.

However, I'd only sign-up for the bolt-on if I can be sure beforehand that what's being used in data is split correctly between the capped & uncapped, and secondly, that the billing charges on the 2 accounts are correct.

If not (yet), can you confirm when this will be sorted out, as others seem to have experienced problems in this regard since they've had the bolt-on.

I look forward to your comments.

I'm furious now....... I have never ever had such bad service with a company....

http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/

CLEARLY states that NOT even 1 session was open during the peak times.... The proof is there with the stats though they are refusing and saying that I DID use the data even though I can SEE from the stats that THEY reffered me to that I was not even connected during that time.

I'm furious now cause they are not understanding what I am saying? Instead they suggest I use netlimiter software to limit during the times ect ect.

I think its unacceptable...

PLZ PLZ check this screenshot and tell me maybe I'm blind but I can not see and usage during the day from that screenshot and its

This is my usage from 21 June to 5 July so far. PLZ tell me how on earth they get 5GB....

I'm very disappointed and feel like I must cancel my account and just stick with openweb uncapped which is pretty damn good too but which is ofcaurse higher priced than @lantic

EDIT: Please tell me if I made a mistake but I doubt I had some one look with me and I could not find the 5GB peak usage they say I did use during peak times.

I was looking at some of my data on SAIX and I am beginning to wonder if perhaps they do have a huge problem with their billing. It is just such an unbelievable chore struggling through their stats, trying to pinpoint where you are charged for packet data and bolt-on. Perhaps if they do take my advice and color them differently it will help.

Looking at your, and also my own stats I see something that bothers me. Take for example your stats for June 20th. The session is timed from 00:52:03 to 06:04:27. The bytes for this session is 4 282 501 939 bytes (taking just the final column). How will this affect their billing. The session should have stopped at 06:00. Just take a look at how many sessions end at 06:04 or 06:09. How does this affect billing? Do they perhaps take the average data per second for every session? That means the extra 4, 6 or 11 minutes the sessions lasted is added to your package data. If they take an average per second for the whole session it is possible that your package data could be so high. If you look at how low the data is for the immediate session thereafter, I believe that this is perhaps what is happening.

I will double check my data again. They say I used 1.46Gb of Packet data already. I cannot see how this is possible. Will post my results

Indeed. Its very concerning and they way they treated it via email support to me is unacceptable. You can clearly see that I have counted atleast that I know if 563mb of data. I have not counted that extra few minutes when the session ends 6:04am or so.

I did a quick calculation. say the 563mb that I have no doubt used duing the package usage hours.

Lets quickly add all those extra minutes from 6am onwards. I connected with pppoe and I make sure it doesn't reconnect.

I counted 38min extra if I count those extra minutes everyday that has just slipped passed 6am like the one you have mentioned.

So that gives me 563mb of usage that I have used in packet usage times. Plus that with a 4mb lines MAX usage for 38min [just to prove they billed me wrong] 981mb of max line speed usage for 38min gives me a total of 1544mb usage.

NOW here is where I say they HAVE a FATAL bug that causes over billing.... They don't count the usage exactly from 6am onwards they must be calculating the package usage from before 6am that is the only way my package usage went up.

Now I'm trying to explain that to them but they are not interested and say I did use that usage... So basically what they are saying I used it and I must pay for it even though I have the PROOF from saix that THEY made a mistake. Its getting me very very angry....

That is my feeling also. I am very careful in not allowing my downloads to extend into the Package Data time periods. That is why I asked that they color the different sessions (one color for the session they regard as Package and another for sessions they regard as bolt-on). Not a difficult request, but if my theory is correct they will not be able to do this. I firmly believe (and perhaps Vox can proof me wrong) that they are making the error at the switch from one package session to another. You will find no session ending and starting at 06:00. All early morning sessions end at 06:04 to 06:11. And I still think they work on an average data per minute or second for that session. The extra 4 to 11 minutes (even if your connection was idle) is billed to package data.

Hi Cavedog

I asked them to give you a call. I don't know why they emailed you.

I've escalated this to the managers now and I hope @lantic will assist you asap.

so I have been contacted and my usage for Last month AND this month so far has been credited to my account. Now they seem to have found the problem and corrected my billing.

The question still remains. Will there be future billing problems..... I would hope not but there will mostlikely be since it a very thin line in terms of the way the account works that billing errors will happen.

Now I just have to wonder if they are going to fix mine also. I am not really in the mood to slog through my data again and try to prove that their billing is incorrect. I am starting to agree with Cavedog, Atlantic has a billing system that is seriously flawed and they advertised a product that they clearly cannot maintain. I was lucky last month and my complaints was handled quite quickly. Perhaps this month I will bid Atlantic farewell, which will be really sad. Lets see what happens.

I have calculated my latest data from Atlantic. According to them I have already used 1.49384 Gb of Package Data. How they manage this is beyond me. Here is a image file of their session data from the 21 June 2012 till the 5 July 2012. I have marked all the sessions that should have been Package data. How in the world do they get 1.4GB of data?

6mto2

I just want them to fix their system. Also, I have added a Threshold alert of 80%. What is the use of this feature?

I know I had to fight over the phone and denied the usage and inisted that they have a manager call me and go through the usage with me over the phone and they just sent me a email with corrections of last and this month.

You will need to insist that the usage be corrected

They will really need to give urgent attention to this problem . So far I have been really impressed with this service, and I have been willing to weather some gremlins in their system since it was a new product. The constant inability to fix this problem is making me think twice about continuing with them :wtf:. I do not mind paying for data that I used, but paying for their inefficiency is not kosher.

I really hope they sort this out. Simply making use of my previous suggestion will already help a lot - color the Packet sessions one color and the Bolt on sessions another color. Then it will be easy to spot any possible errors.

Looks like they got a special too now. You get 2 free months if you join the uncapped bolt on.....

I just hope they sort out this billing issues. My data is still incorrect. I like the way they advertise the "automatic cutover at 6pm and back again 6am. If only it worked as great as they said :wtf:
