laptop Batt help

How old is the battery? Maybe it's time is up.

If you use linux, you should be able to check your battery's last charge vs design charge. If you cycle the battery a lot, it's quite possibly just end of life.

A cheaper fix is to have the battery repacked, which involves it being opened up and having the cells replaced. It works out much cheaper and in quite a few of the cases I've had it done, the battery life was longer than when the notebook was brand new. Usually costs between R400 and R700 and I know a guy in Randburg that does a good job.

You still have the option of trying to repack the battery with new Li-Ion cells but it means you will first have to open the battery to see the type of cells it uses which should not be to hard. Cells can be purchased from specialist battery suppliers or electronics shops. I would advise going for a good brand with a higher mAh rating if possible.
Or you could get a quote and have someone do it for you, just enquire about the cells they use and ask to repack it to a higher mAh rating:

Try this guy. His name is Graham.
He will be able to tell you if there is a heavy duty battery for that HP or you can look on the HP site off course.
He can also repack.
Telephone and address on the site.

edit: I asume that you did check your power plan? Balanced or performance, battery saving?
