i'm looking to get a new laptop but this time id like to get something a bit better.

which brand would be recommended and why? not only what brand made the best laptop in 2015 so far, but has a history of making good laptops. its basically an all around laptop, it should keep up with basic functions and you should at least be able to play some games on it, preferably i3 or i5 at least, please don't recommend alienware or apple. Thanks

Hey man, you need to provide some budget and an idea of what you're looking for specifically in a laptop. I'm happy to find something in the MSI line that might suit you.

My favourite brands are Acer and HP, but people will say otherwise.

Never had an Acer or HP have problems for over 10 years.

Not sure what is the best in 2015, but I still love my HP Envy 17.

For work I use Dell, for home I have an MSI gaming laptop. Both are over a year old and haven't given a single issue (still get 3hrs+ on battery with low/medium usage). The build quality of these machines is excellent!

Just asking ....

The brands are all different, but arent the components all made by other people and the machines are somewhat the same thing?

For example - two differents brands, but both with say ..... seagate hard drives, or two different brands but both assembled by say Compal ?

Yes to an extent but there are other things like build quality, screen quality, cooling and noise, keyboard, touchpad and warranty support that make a big difference between notebooks.

I would say Dell followed by Lenovo for reliability. I have had both and been very happy. Dell service very good.

This^^ S'pose is the important bit.

Well yea but the other factors can be just as important. I've used laptops that felt horrible - like my current work Dell for instance. It creaks, the keyboard is mushy, the touchpad isn't sensitive, the screen is low res - it feels like a low-to-mid range enterprise model all the way.

And then I've sat down with R30k GT72s or GS60s and the difference is phenomenal. There's no flex on the chassis, the keys are individually lit, the keyboard is responsive, the trackpad is large and comfortable, the speakers have some clarity, there's a ton of ports all round, the display looks premium, the fan doesn't go into overdrive when you play games (and you can actually play games on max detail). You do get what you pay for.

The best laptop brand in the world in terms of build quality and reliability is Panasonic. If you want something not made in China, you get this.

A decent runner up is NEC. They're now co-operating with Lenovo. They make the lightest laptops although Pany's are also light.

That's my Japanese notebook maker plug for today.
