I have a HP8540w with 4gb internal memory (Samsung 4GB PC3-10600 1333Mhz)
Then it has an open slot for another Memory module.
So i bought another Apacer 8GB PC3-10600 1333Mhz
When i put it in the Laptop Detects 12GB of RAM, On windows XP 32bit its obviously not seeing or even touching the 8GB module.
Once i try to start installing any 64bit OS, Ubuntu 64bit, Fedora64bit, Win764bit its supper slow and eventually crashes and resets the laptop.
So i thought the memory that i have bought is faulty, so i took my colleague's Memory which he hasnt had time to install in his laptop also 8GB exactly the same as mine bought the same day.
Tried it in my Laptop and it gave the same results, So i took the memory and installed it in a HP8440p with the same resault.
So i took out the internal memory and put both 8GB in my laptop the one goes underneath the Keyboard and the other one underneath the laptop.
The PC then recognizes 16GB of ram, and then not even XP wont boot.
So its like this memory is not compatible or something with HP laptops, could it be that HP want you to buy memory from them ?
