What warranty though? At work we use Lenovo laptops and they are forever breaking :(.

We use dells and they are forever breaking as well but I always feel the business spec machines are built to a lower, more plasticy standard... I would never buy a Dell, so your reluctance to buy Lenovo is warranted, but if you find something with a good warranty you should be good. I would be more worried about battery life on that Y570, that is a lot of powerful components, that would require a ton of juice.

And the lenovo GT555 is not a real GT555 :(. Its pretty much an overclocked GT 540

Also looking. For me the core i7 2630qm is at the right point on the cost performance curve. And in that range you're either looking at a gt540m or hd6570m, the latter being slightly better. The only other consideration is ram, min 4 - 1 module so you can upgrade, and usb3.0

Acer (Don't know)

Lenovo

Both have kuk warranty - 1year. Asus is 2 years. Dell 3.

I settled on an equivalent Asus (K53SC-SX027X) and then it got pulled from the site :( Was R8999 last week.

Well i think anything with a GT540m and up would be fine. Core i7 is not needed at all for what its going to be used for.

That gigabyte i5 is way overpriced. Got exactly the same spec SamSung from Mitabyte for R5800. With 3 year on site w

I would go for the MSI as it has 1920 x 1080 resolution. There is nothing wrong with MSI. Dell and Gigabyte with full HD will set you back much much more.
