I have just gotten a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop, WIN7 Home Premium, and I copied my Guildwars installation to the laptop.

The problem is that even when I set the screen on it's brightest, it is still too dark, especially the background.

Any ideas how I might solve this problem.

Many thanks,

Russell

Switch off the ambient light sensor in the BIOS. It sucks ass.

My Dell Latitude is a different beast now.

Go into Control Panel -> Power Management.

Set it to High Performance mode (whenever you're gaming) - that should set all clocks to their highest speed, full brightness, etc.
(You may need to click the little arrow underneath if only 'Power Saving' and 'Balanced' options are available)

Have tried the above where applicable to my laptop. Got some improvment but dungeons are still too dark :(

I seem to remember gamma settings in Guildwars's graphics options...

You did see the "screen brightness" slider on the main "select a power plan" page - at the bottom?
That's the main window BEFORE you go into the "change plan settings" of Balanced,Power saver,or High performance plan settings
