Hello,

Any recommendations for a decent laptop for a student. Not doing graphical design but also dont want one that struggles to open a decent sized presentation or Excel spreadsheet. One that will give her service for 4 years or so.

Not an Apple and not a Lenova.

Thanks

Budget..

I have the slowest piece of shît Dell laptop which isn’t even two years old. It’s been super super slow since day one (bought in March 2020). Avoid that brand unless it’s high end stuff.

All depends on your budget. Also have an aspiring student in house and went through the buying process in December.

The hardware is the same in most laptops. Intel does not specifically make slow CPU's for Dell laptops.

I am so curious as to why OP would give an Air a skip. It’s made for this exact purpose and target market.

Excel is much, much superior on Windows.

Then what would explain a super slow laptop like this? It takes so long to start up and load applications.

I have the Inspiron 15 3000 with Intel Core i3 7th Gen. Surely it shouldn’t be this slow?

Most likely preloaded software by Dell. I normally try and uninstall as much bloatware I don't need.
