I have always been a great supporter of PC over laptop due to ease of upgrades/ higher performance/easy to fix

Work is giving me 12k for a pc/laptop -

Should I get a laptop due to possible load shedding? Can't help but think that I could upgrade my current PC to a monster, however not good if I can't use the thing

What like a possible few hours a week? PC = more bang for your buck.

Laptops these days are very close to being desktop replacements, even if portability is not a factor in your decision.

Are they giving you the amount in cash?

It's a tough one really.
I'm all about pc but have an awesome design laptop at work but that's 50k +.

Unless your laptop is up to the std regarding specs, ie. GPU, SSD, Ram , etc. ; I wouldn't bother.

I are confused. A laptop IS a PC.

Unless you mean an Apple but that's also a PC these days.

That makes more sense.

You will ALWAYS get more performance for your money with a desktop. Always.

But then a laptop has a battery and is portable. Depends on what you want more.

^ A laptop is a PC, you mean Laptop vs Desktop [PC].

Have they not always been? :p

Well that depends on your definition really. Technically they have always been personal computers, but they weren't IBM PC compatible until a few years ago when they started using Intel processors like the rest of the world. Hell, even they themselves called the things PowerPC.

Get both.

A laptop is needed to work from bed :p

And some light gaming.

Work is giving you money to buy a laptop/pc thats going to be used for games?

I want your job, were do i sign up?

Is upgrading even an option if it's a work PC?

Gaming/Movies/Internets, will not be used for its portability.
Quite a cushie job you have :)

... value for money I'll take a PC over a laptop any day of the week.
