99% of the time not what is being flogged on local marketplaces, the deals sold bundled with pc's are legit though.

They are typically volume, Msdn or Edu licenses which cannot be resold. You'll known its an Edu license because the reseller will supply login info for the Office account with an email address from an official educational institute, when you see that you know 100% guaranteed you have been scammed.

Volume licenses are not for resell.

All these dodgy licenses will typically activate one way of the other but once Ms works out they aren't being used according to the license agreement they get blacklisted.

Anyone that buys a dodgy Office or Win 7/10 license just install a PID checker, it will tell you what type of license it is, Msdn/Volume /Edu/Oem/Retail. Retail being 100% legit and Oem borderline but probably passable.

Thanks, will try the PID checker next time I’m there

Just to update, Marfin responded to my concern very quickly and professionally, and it has been resolved.

Anyone bought windows 10 licenses from these guys and used the PID checker yet?

Have a customer that’s asked me to quote on a few licenses and they came across these guys selling it for R350

Ask the seller what license type it is and if it turns out its not what they say it is ask for a refund, do that on carbonite because then the guy can't duck and dive.

Flashgear is over there and on Mybb and he also sells licenses, cheap but not dirt cheap and he's legit. Last I checked his Win 10 Pro were around R500.

Everyone on this thread who has bought from him has only made one post on mybb

PID check against windows 10 key bought from laptops at cost, oem version confirm.
As per this link: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/software/291274-buying-windows-10-pro-for-r400.html it’s not legal then

“Purchasing OEM licences after you purchase your hardware is not allowed and the user will be viewed as non-compliant, added Microsoft.”

Theoretically you aren't allowed to buy an oem license other than bundled with hardware but how is Ms going to possibly tell if you bought the OEM license after the fact?

Unless you tell them you did and they may ask during activation, they probably have no way of finding out, so be wise with that info.

And the retail key having the bonus of getting support from Microsoft, wtf I'd rather not get that thanks very much.

And if your motherboard blows and is replaced Microsoft will reactivate an OEM license, not sure where that bs is pulled from.

If it's a new previously unused OEM license I'd be OK with using it, paying R3.3k for a retail license is absolutely ridiculous, the f0k is up with that bs pricing Microsoft?

MSDN/Volume or Edu licenses are most definitely not resalable, there is no grey area there like an OEM license, if anyone knowingly sells you one of those they are a crook through and through.

Pretty sure his Microsoft Office is MSDN...
It actually looks like a Win 8 Pro license OEM, they appear to natively activate Win 10 installs, anyone with a Win 8 Pro key can install Win 10 like that.

Maybe that's why they are cheap.

Edit. I think you are referring to an earlier post regarding Office.

I'm not very chatty but I've bought from him recently and I can only complement his service. The X1 Cabon I bought is awesome and the price is still below what I can find any other competing price for (3 months later). But your right this is probably my first comment on MyBB :)

Did he ask / encourage / pay you to come post here?

Was an honour to see this popcorn thread play out.
