*Large* E71 Firmware Update

Well, you tried. And you got responded to by an INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE.

Thanks for checking up on this Colin. I think it is truly bad form that for some inexplicable reason these E71's (I have the same E71, same problem, also not getting any new firmware) are effectively being left out in the dark. ESPECIALLY when other phones in the same region (MTN ones) ARE being updated.

We are now two big firmware updates behind, and like you, I'd prefer to not change the product code.

colin, they may have told you so but moerse baie dankie for trying anyway... I have the E71 on MTN and updated my firmware in Jan using the Nokia updater, without any issues or improvements in the phone really, its actually slightly slower... But i think that was the 101.xxx version.

Dont want to change any product codes but would really like to upgrade to a newer version... Hope it somes soon...

I've upgraded my MTN based phone to the new 2xx version without a hitch!

checked my version and its the 200.xxx... Phone is very slow though. Browser opens and closes very slowly, and messaging as well.

Any way I can roll back to prior firmware?

Thanks

I have just upgraded firmware version 200.21.118 successfully on my Vodacom Nokia E71. It is a 105 BM download with Nokia Software Updater.

I did not experience any slowness or any other problem since the upgrade.

Busy updating my Vodacom one now as well. Seems the 200.x version has been released.

Has anyone done a Software update using one of the Windows 7 flavours?

Tried it on a Win 7 post-RC pre-RTM release, and it failed. Will try today in compatibility mode

Update: Did it on the same Win7 machine ... key is to change the compatibility mode for the PC Suite and NSU INSTALLATION files to Windows Vista.

Worked like a charm, and the 300.x software kicks ass. Especially the GPS lock on satellites ... went from taking about 3-5 minutes, to under 20 seconds to get a lock on the satellites.
