Lasik eye surgery, should I do it?

I havent done a single follow up and it's been 8 years now since I had it done.

Curious to know what the costs are these days. If I recall mine was like R16k for both eyes

Paid just over R30k a year ago and this was after phoning around. Most of the doctors are between R35-50k.

Yeah, it is only getting more and more costly, hence I suggest those considering it to do it ASAP.

My doc gave me an anniversary check-up. Was happy and said no need for further visits unless I had an issue.
 
Any places in PTA you guys can recommend ?
 
Well its a year later and think its finally time, and places you guys can recommend in JHB / PTA ?

Tried and trusted technology. I had mine done somewhere around 1998...don't remember, Lasik was a new thing. Some 5 years later I had the left eye 'trimmed' again and to the day I need only reading glasses.

It was a huge shift from wearing glasses for years to suddenly none. I'd do it any day again if needed.
 
Had both eyes done back in 1999 by Mr Percy Amoils when his rooms were still in Sandton. Apart from the initial post-op discomfort due to the dilation of the pupils and the focus returning after 2-3 days, I had no issues. I had to provide an ophthalmic report on both my eyes in 2020 due to the SACAA chief medical officer grounding me due to the Lasik procedure I had previously. The report showed no scar tissue or issues and the doctor commented on the fact that he could not see any indication that I had the procedure done.

Best decision I every made medically. Still 20/20 vision, some astigmatism and using read glasses because im over 50. 😊
