guys
hey

running to video conference units with DYDNS over a 4MB ADSL line supplier is Mweb uncapped

Im getting huge latencys on video and audio ?? its so bad that the guy says his infront of the system and i cant see him

now router has not QoS so that option is out, should i test with an unshaped account instead ?

i mean the guy is down the road why the bad latency ?

dont get it

DynDNS is one provider for Dynamic DNS.

If you're trying to do the video call in office hours, you'll see a great improvement in speed/latency by using an unshaped account instead.

thought as much, What about QoS is there not a software out there to tell router what traffci to send where

I know what DYNDNS is... He said DYDNS and was referring to conferencing over it. I searched for anything video spooling DYDNS related but came up empty.

You're barking up the wrong tree. QoS tells your router how to prioritize traffic on your network going out and coming in. Beyond that it's up to your ISP. As suggested originally, I think your eating choke, ie. lack of bandwidth.

use DYNDNS to get a "static ip" so both systems can see eachother

DYNDNS isn't the problem. What application are you using to feed video?

I would try another account first, video conferencing usually uses none-prioritised ports and Mweb might be shaping those ports, if you still receive high latency it might be your DSLAM at the exchange which is over-utilized.

I've noticed quite a number of people been complaining of high latency after their exchanges were upgraded to support Metro Ethernet ADSL2+.

dude its a proper video conference sony PCS G50s
Thanks. That means it uses High-Quality Video H.263. What ISP? What type of account?

I'd suggest running a couple of www.speedtest.net tests to your local ISP POP to determine what kind of throughput your ADSL is giving you for starters.

yeahit uses high quality h.263

mweb uncapped 4096 bandwidth think there is huge shaping going on there so trying now for a webafrica unshaped account on the SAT3 cable use to use this at home for PS3 and worked wonders

Try a local only account.
