Latest apps available and info about apps

Go to options, advance options, GPS and make sure all is enabled. Also go to applications(options or advance options) and edit the permission of app by allowing access to all.
changed as advised but still when clicking on G Maps it closes when the blue line gets half way on application screen (from Downloads menu) ..... when checking GPS under advanced options, the GPS data source states NONE .... GPS service is Location ON ..... this is free through BIS right ? (i have forced my TCP/IP as advised on another post) .... thanks for help

I think you need to specify what GPS source to use. If your phone has one, then set the GPS to "internal" or something along those lines.

Which blackberr model do you have ?

sorry, newby to BB and received my 8520 on Friday .... is google Maps and BBweather FREE (ie included in contract BIS), if yes, how do I add those applications .... is there a BB browsing for Dummies anywhere ?

The 8520 does not have Internal GPS but it will work via Bluetooth connection to a GPS receiver which supports Bluetooth and needs to be paired first.

ok thanks .... told you i was a dummy ....

No dummies allowed :D

Nah, just missing gps on our device thats why it isnt working. But it should be able to pin point your location via the a-gps(cellphone tower location)

ok thanks .... told you i was a dummy ....

Nope, you are not! The only dummy is the one who does not ask questions, because then he will not get answers ;)

Now at least someone else will also be aware that the 8520 does not have an Internal GPS, but could get it to work with an external Bluetooth GPS receiver :D

Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 out. Much improved version. Works with BIS.
Get it here m.opera.com/next

I can strongly recommend Amazon's Kindle app for the Blackberry. I've loaded it on my Bold, purchased a book on Kindle for PC, and sent the book to my Bold. It works great. I'm an avid reader and thought I will never be able to read books on the small screen of the Bold, but I was immediately converted. The contrast is great so it is very easy on the eye. Almost done with my first book.

But it doesn't use BIS so you can't do anything else while using it - you don't get e-mails and if you connect to the browser you'll get the MTN/Vodacom browser because it deactivates BIS while it syncs. Very irritating.

Are you refering to the Kindle app? I'm using mine on BIS and I can browse using the BB and Opera browsers while Kindle is running. I've set my BB that it cannot access the web outside of BIS.
