Latest available OS

It wont work in countries that actually use true BIS, only in countries where they have fixed data caps for BIS as they do not care how you use your limited data quantities.

If I'm not mistaken I read somewhere that it works on MTN. WiFi Hotspot that is. I could be wrong, it will most definitely NOT be the first time.

I have a OLD 8700 from the UK. Prob is I got it networked unlocked from my friendly Pakistani down the road. If I do a wipe of the phone it goes back to being networked locked. How can I upgrade the OS of this BB and still keep it networked unlocked. (Or how can I unlock it myself?)

Hope someone here can help me

Have you tried using the actual vodacom software?

I am new to this thread and it is very long so I don't have time to read through all.

Vodacom has a Firmware update for my BB 9300 and it is 150MB. There are no instructions on how to download it.
Do I just download it from my computer and follow prompts?
Thanks

Try reading this: http://www.blackberryos.com/blackberry-how-guides/22-how-install-upgrade-your-operating-system.html

I'm going to update my Bold 9780 shortly to the newest leaked version - hope it all goes well or I might cry.

21:24 - Just finished updating my phone to latest "leaked" version and it all went well - just few updates I have to run on the Blackberry messenger etc but ya - I did exactly as the above page suggested - removed memory card, ran full updates and did restores etc and as far as I can see, everything is there.

BB sucks. It comes with a small CD that then directs you to a website to download the desktop software stuff. That takes an hour. Then it wants dot Net Framework 3.5 and that takes another hour. Then it wants you to update your OS. That takes another hour. Now you think you good to go. It still does not work and 400MB's are gone in 1 day.

Why don't they just include a proper CD with the dam thing?

oops. Now I am in trouble. Went to the download link and it asked me for my Cell No. I entered it and as I did, I saw in small letters that it costs R5 pd.

Now how to get it canceled?

th doesnt sound good at all. on the blackberry site there is a software download feature. u put in your phone, etc. you download the update. when you plug your phone into the desktop software theres an option to update your OS. i think it searches your drive and finds the new OS. backups everything. installs and restores. was painless when i did it.

you dont pay for the software downloads. i suggest you follow that up pronto. i actually used my wifes (9300) software. didnt need an update. just worked.

No. I am trying to download the "Desktop Manager" that I need before I upgrade my OS and this seems impossible.

The CD that came with it takes ages to "Initialize" then all it shows is a link to a website to download the DM.
It downloaded a cab file but when I click on it, it starts installing the software. When that is done, it starts to install MS dot net 3.5 SP1 and in brackets it shows (Web Download) Nothing downloads. Did a manual download and it shows that it is installed.
Did it over again and it got stuck at the same place. MS dot net 3.5 SP1 downloading but nothing.

Why don't they just put this on the CD as other cellphones do?

no man it is on there. I installed from that disc.

I thought as much. It runs and gives my HD a hard time for about 5 minutes then a simple page opens with web links to download the software. I have seen the web page that shows how to install from the disc but it is completely different to what I see.
So far I have used 650MB in two days trying to download the DM. Perhaps it is my laptop that has issues.
