Does it by default have a built in addblocker now?

Hey hey

The latest 12.15 version of Opera is buggy. More so than 12.14. In fact , I have rolled-back to an even earlier version due to 12.xxs issues.

If you are not using a proxy, try clearing cache etc and re-load. There is no default ad-block with Opera, although there are ad-blocking extensions available for it.

As a test, perhaps try installing it as a portable / USB installation as a test, and see if this does the same thing... during install, select Options, and then choose another folder to install it into, and the option for USB should become active;

Here, on the developer's blog, read about all the issues people are having with 12.15. Some are even suggesting that Opera is making it as bad as they can without seeming too obvious to make their next webkit powered one seem better !! <- tinfoil hat time.

I installed the old 11.64 version as a portable version, and it is so fast and stable compared with 12.15. Opera's quality control has taken a nose dive lately, and bugs and issues become new features that users have to live with.

I went back to 11.64 too, the issues with Gmail retrys/timeouts was driving me up the wall. 11.64 is certainly much snappier.

They're moving over to WebKit anyhow, so it's probably a good idea to wean off of Opera.
