OEM prices are nuts. When I was playing around with Nav systems for my SEAT, the OEM RNS head unit was R50k
 
Claim from insurance.

You'll lose a lot more when trying to sell it with asstastic third party rims.

The OEM prices are truly deliberately ridiculous. It's all part of their clutch on owner through extended warranty periods. Swine!
 
Sell your other 3 wheels back to VW at R19k each, get some aftermarket wheels for R30k and score the other R27k left over.
 
That's what they cost. @adamr also got a similar quote for a Pretoria rim on his R.
He ended up finding a full set on Gumtree.

Careful with aftermarket rims. I know fitting even out of spec tires on my BMW voids the motorplan, so maybe check with VW first before you go that route.
 
not to knock on your brand OP as the Golf R is an awesome car but this is why my blood instantly boils when people want to tell me alfa and peugeot is crap because their parts are too expensive and thats why they would rather drive a VW, this is just plain insane for a rim!

but fear not OP rather get the rim repaired at wheel collision, they can repair almost any damage to the rim and they even xray the rims to check for micro cracks. highly recommended.

The logic behind it is not the dealership prices but more the abundance of scap parts as well as "high quality replacement parts" from the likes of Goldwargen. I've basically rebuilt my 2005 vw polo on Goldwargen parts.

All oem rims are crazy expensive no matter the brand and even more so in this case because it's a limited edition kind of car.

OP must have insurance or maybe the full story involves a few dops and he wants to avoid some uncomfortable questions?

As has been mentioned scrap yards should definitely have one available if not now then replace with the same rim size and offset and wait for one to be available, they can normally organize a part if you give them a week or 2.
 
16k for 1 vw rim - wtf

Paid +- 8.5k per rim , and they where the aftermarket Alleggerita HLT.On another level to the oem vw rim.
 
You should get two so that you can also replace that marie biscuit spare wheel for next time you hit a pothole.
 
I'm pretty sure a friend a little less for 911 (997) Turbo rims a few years back

Yes but not to this extent, the limited edition type 19 inch ti rim for my alfa brera costs 4k from the agents. Yes 4k is expensive but not 19k expensive
