Lawnmower help

Wait trimtech is also owned by Tandem? So the premium tandem mowers at the garden shop and the cheaper trimtech are actually the same mower with a different brand?

I’d assume the suspension issue applies to wolf as well?
If you look at the Tandem range, there are some professional models (for the garden service market). They are tough as nails and last decades in suburban home garden use. Not too many people are prepared to fork out over 6K for a mower though, so instead of losing out on market share, they market cheaper versions for home use. These aren't too bad either, but don't expect them to last longer than 3-5 years.
Trimtech is kak. Clearly they did not want to damage the Tandem brand by incorporating it into their current line-up.

So is wolf the mid range tandem?
I think it's Trimtech at the bottom, then Tandem, then Wolf.

I based that guess on the wheels. The Wolf have heavy duty wheels (with spokes and 2 bearings per wheel) even on the 2200w. The Tandem and Trimtech have plastic doing the bearing's work (you can upgrade these to the wheel with bearings (unless the new axle take different wheels)).

All three brands look exactly the same, just different colours.

And is the wolf at makro the same as those at the mower shops?

I’m confused after speaking to a couple of lawnmower shops

So one of the things that’s confusing me is gardening shops and makro both sell 2400W Wolf Lawnmower. The gardening shops claims theirs is better but it seems to be the same. Is there really a difference?
I bought mine directly from the Wolf factory here in CPT. They even sell refurbished ones.

It look like different models within the same Watts. Ambition VS most mower places selling Conquest.

If I look at these pics, it seems they too have the weakened suspension (the black part next to the motor connecting front and back wheel is rounded pipe-ish instead of flat metal) . I don't see a nut holding the wheel either, a good indicator that it's the new suspension. :(

It turns out both wolfs are exactly the same with the same product code but marketed as different models

Same. He has had to replace various parts over the years but could always do it on the cheap. The last time I saw it the plastic covering on the motor had perished and broken off completely so he just replaced it with an overturned bucket with some vent holes drilled into it . It still mowed his massive yard just fine regardless.

I did not comment on my old man's lawnmower's condition, for a reason. Two actually: One, I haven't looked at it in over a decade, and two, last time it did, it didn't look too good. We had a very big yard in an old part of town (20x80m IIRC) so that machine got a decent workout every week. Over the years rats have chewed on various bits, a certain someone cut the cord a few times, some of the plastics have gotten hard and brittle and been subjected to the odd stone being kicked up. I know he replaced the wheels (all plastic) at some point, and I think the switch too. It doesn't look good, but it still worked the last time we talked about it.
