That 40D5500 is really tempting. Would it be any good as a very large pc monitor?

Comparable to the picture quality of the 32d550?

Couldn't say for sure but both are PVA panels which means good colours and blacks. LED back-lighting would give it the edge under brighter conditions for sure. LA32D550 would only really be better for working up close. I found you need 90cm-1m viewing distance for a 32".

I tried a 42" monitor on my desk for a PC monitor but it was too big, couldn't see the full image without sitting waaaay back. Settled on the 32D550 instead. Just a thought.

Its going to be used from quite far away.

No problem then, go as big as possible. What's your viewing distance? PC is great even on 46" with PC Mode...

Yep. I use my 51" D550 as a PC monitor as well. I sit on my comfy couch and do my web browsing, gaming, emails with my wireless mouse/keyboard and it is a pleasure.

I have had zero burn in issues on this plasma in 10 months. Even after falling asleep in front of the tv for a few hours with just windows explorer open or some static image.

I don't also don't see how a screen can be too big. I will go 59" next.

ROFL! :D:D P.S. the other thread got closed by wily me. ;) Same thing you're doing here! ;)

Do not talk thrash, I made a valid comment about not getting the thread closed (that comment is still there) and thereafter you started with you usual arguments and crap about why it was closed. Why were your initial comments deleted? You are now standing on 5 TV threads locked with your continued arguing.

This one will follow soon it seems.

Yeah, if you carry on your antics just like you are here, just like in that thread leading to its closure, making invalid troll comments based on your misunderstanding of the forum's ways (no one got the original thread closed). But of course it's your intention to talk thrash and inevitably close threads, shifting the blame to others to excuse your intentional behaviour and thrash talking. ;) ;)

Good to hear re burn-in because many non plasma owners would have others thinking otherwise. PS51D550 with PC Mode is great although the backlight of LCD seems more constant (I seemed to notice slight flicker with the plasma). The PS59D550 is a beast, and next to the PS51D550 looks even better PQ wise. :D

As I said explain the other open threads with double the post counts. You still do not accept that your repetitive banters with everyone with a different view are the actual cause of the thread closures. Poor you.

Dolby was a plasma owner and he explained why he sold it, mostly due to the plasma image persistence and valid fears about burn in, and why he is now much happier with an LED due to various advantages and very very good blacks, Yet you refuse to acknowledge his views and even had arguments with him. We also gave proof that the myth that the problem is solved is non existent. The plasma manufacturers use special algorithms to reduce or counter the problem, like by using pixel shifting but the burn in problem is not "solved".

Seriously guys, the last thread was closed due to thread size by the looks of it, but also could the thread remain for bargains only, then a separate thread can be created for discussions, or perhaps the people have to just ask on a specific model?
