The retailers don't offer the four year guarantee, Hisense does. You need to register your device with them to activate it. Which I stupidly didn't do :-( so I've only got three years.
 
I'm considering getting either a Hisense or Sinotec 40 to 43 inch. I see the Sinotec 43 is on special at Game this weekend for R3999 but has a refresh rate of 50Hz, whereas the Hisense 40 is R4299 with a 100Hz refresh rate.

This TV is for my sons' room. 95% of the time to be used for XBox 360 gaming. 5% cartoons.

Any opinions?
 
Check the response time if it's for gaming. The low end tvs are not great for that.
 
How are Panasonic TV's these days?

Makro has 55 inch for 8999. LED 1080p, 2 usb etc.

My midrange 48" Samsung was stolen. Not going to get another Samsung. Had quite a few software glitches.

I'll hear from the kids if it is acceptable for games, as they spent most of the weekend playing Xbox. No other signal (ie, dstv, av, etc) connected to the TV yet to judge for myself.
 
HiSense 32d50....anyone have one and can confirm whether is plays mkv and mp4 files?

Esquire has it for a good price and want one that can do some basic media playing.

Bought the 40 inch one from them today for R3500 ish incl vat, this one plays mkv, mp4, avi no issues. good quality. some files not showing up when hardrive connected tho, could be a formatting issue. overall, well worth the money. and quality for this price is very good.

Aint that the truth. My LG from 4 years ago performs better. I fell for the Samsung hype!
 
Interesting that LG have ditched IPS for their TVs and moved onto OLED.

Pulled the trigger on the 32d50 and it is pretty awesome. Light but quality build.

Cheapy remote though.

yea it is, but the rest of the build quality is very decent. enjoy your purchase! register it online for the additional year warranty!!
 
OT: I'm so exciting for an affordable OLED TV, the improvement over standard LED is so marked in a dark room

Just excited in general. Every now and then I go to Dion Wired to see their one LG OLED. The salesmen who know their stuff are always happy to show it off.

Can anyone recommend a well priced reliable service that does this...?

Our 59" Samsung plasma has bitten the dust after a flurry of load shedding incidents originally (yes it was on a surge protector plug which didn't seem to help much in retrospect). Now this wasn't a real issue as we had a 50" sammy which we used in the interim that was in another room.Now recently the toddler decided to try his discus skills and threw a large heavy round doorstop at the screen and if when "crack" :cry: In any case so now it time to have a look if the other screen can be salvaged so hence my question above.

It is just me and the SO so lugging the screen off to Samsung themselves would be too much of a mission unless there is a considerable cost saving involved.
