LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Samsung E/F550. One of the best plasmas around. This also has 3D and smart though.

I'm trying to decide between the LG 55LA6210 for R13k (Makro) or the LG 47ln5700 for R8500 (Dion Wired).

Does anyone here have the above mentioned 55inch and is it worth the price difference for the extras over the 47inch model (bigger screen, 3D although 3D is only a nice to have and not a must for me)?

I figured the 55inch is quite a good price seeing as how the 50LN5700 goes for about R9900 (Dion Wired).

I got my LG one on special for R7500 from game.Loving it.5 grand more for 7 more inches lol - i;d say go for the biggest.

Need some advice on choosing a TV for the bedroom . Budget is around 5-6 K. Looking at the 40" on offer the following seem to be some options :
UA40F5000 R4799 on special at Makro
PS43F4900 R5999 on special at Takealot
I am not too worried of the smart option but Makro also have the UA40F6400 for R6999. This seems to be a good price on this model. Worth breaking the budget :-)?

Viewing distance will be about 3 meters.

Thanks

What will you be using the TV to watch?

I would say 50/50. Looking at getting Netflix sometime as well. 2mb line for now but looking to upgrade later.

You can get a 47 inch for R6999 if you wait for the specials coming up soon..

The HD Ready plasma is definitely an option then, best of both worlds for SD and HD, with superior picture quality - especially at night/dimmed conditions. From 3m, the difference between HD on a HD Ready plasma and FHD LCD won't be too perceivable.

I see Makro have the Samsung UA46F6100 on special for 7999. 3D but only 2 HDMI ports. The 55" looks stunning but costs a bit more :)

Eish, too lazy to go through the whole thread.

In the market for a 2nd TV

Size: 42 - 50
Budget: R6500

Use Case:

PS3 Gaming - 15 - 2m viewing distance
Movies and Series: SD & HD content - 3-4 metres
Lighting conditions: Bad - two of the walls have large windows letting lots of natural light in. 80% of TV use will be during the day.

3D NOT required - gimmick in my mind

Recommendations from the experts?

R6.5k is 46/47" LCD territory. Would be a bonus if you could find one with a matte screen, unlikely though. Either Samsung, LG or Sony will do.

So, the Exchequer has determined that 6.5K is "over the top" so the choice has now filtered down to:

Samsung UA40EH5000 - R4800 - Makro
Samsung UA40F5000 - R5250 (Dion Wired)

Not much to go on when looking at the specs on Samsung Webiste.

Is the F500 worth the extra R450?

I've compared EH5300 (EH5000 + SMART) and F5000. In terms of EH5000 and F5000, not much of a difference, the main differences are cosmetics (F5000 being slimmer/narrower bezel I think), and better speakers on the F5000. Can't comment on PQ.

Maybe just go with the F5000 since it is newer. We can assume it's an improvement.

Great thanks - think I'll go with the F5000 then.
