LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Just out of interest - if you have a PC hooked up, why are you playing a movie via the TV?
 
Hi people, i need your help, since many are already subscribed here i thought i'd post here instead of a new thread, my mom wants to buy a new TV, and for some reason is in a rush. the limit is R10k she's looking at 50" or bigger. currently she's looking at This which is R500 cheaper Here.

I think 3d won't be used and i'd rather get UHD instead. normally i'd research myself but my time is limited as she already wants to buy the above mentioned tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

Samsung 60" plasma, of course.

Don't worry, most people are ignorant about TVs, and most advice that most people receive is unfortunately based on ignorance.

It is that much better, and more importantly, it offers the greatest size for the budget (besides best picture quality, motion, etc.).

Alrighty, now i think i should've been more specific i see the 60" Plasma is going for R12k at takealot. Budget has already been stretched at 10.

The T.V will be used mostly by my folks who aren't technical. Some Smart functionality preferably through wireless would be nice, watching youtube vids etc. Lan would mean running a cable but i'll do it if need be.

Well said if only people knew. That Pioneer Kuro was rated the best set in the game not to long ago until Pioneer ceased production.
 
There are certain instances where LCD would be better. For example if your tv will act as a secondary monitor on your pc (where burn in might be an issue) or if it is in a bright room with either bright lights or windows that lets light in.

The Tv will be in literally the brightest room in the house, as there are plenty windows and doors.

I dont know how good Hisense is, but here is a 55 inch LG for the same price. Certainly not top of the range at that price though.
And here is a good samsung at a very good price but its only 48 inch. I actually bought this tv recently. Its got most off the bells and whistles...smart tv, 3d, good refresh rate, air remote and better black levels than the LG and Hisense but not plasma black levels, though you wont notice it in a well lit room.

Oh and remember if Game stock it they will beat the price :)

LCD would be best for that. Just get the biggest branded set you can afford.
 
To those who purchased the H5000 Samsung plasma, a buddy of mine is having trouble with hdd support.
NTFS formatted hdd's do not want to read, while flash drives and the like works.
Should he format the drive to fat32 and will exfat work?
 
So I bought a Samsung PS51E550 quite a while ago and I have been extremely happy with it. A friend of mine now wants something similar, what should he go for now that plasma is getting scarce?
