Just the panel or the TV?

They did the same to my Samsung (after fighting though) but it looks like the screen uniformity isn't the same as the old panel. Was so sick of fighting with everyone at that point so I left it

Had a similar experience with Samsung... got a decent upgrade too in the process (from FullHD Plasma to a 4k Curved LED), but the fighting and chasing I had to do over more than a month left me physically drained!

Not to mention that the plasma was better. :p
 
Model is an LG PB6900, no fighting on my side, just one phone call. They just replaced the panel, not the whole TV. I happy, screen working just as well as the original one.

Well, that is an issue I've had to force myself to get over... and for most it will remain a matter of opinion anyway.

What I can say is that the improved DLNA support, USB format support, multiple HDMI and USB ports have made my life quite a lot better in terms of managing the households needs (especially with a 7yr old!)

Getting a R35k TV to replace my R25k TV which is now a year newer and has 4k resolution is a decent consolation.
 
Could not find a thread discussing this, therefore I'm stuck at choosing a Full HD or a UHD 48" TV. The TV will mainly be used for movies (720p), Xbox 360 and then some basic PC gaming on an old rig.

Due to the low res of the xbox and movies, how will this picture look on the UHD? Will it just be better to stick with the Full HD?

Depends on budget. If you can afford an UHD, go for it.

Personally, I would get an 55 FHD than a 48 UHD.
 
If the UHD supports HDR then it's a no brainer, take the UHD.
If not, then consider the model numbers of the 2 units and sizes - I'd rather have a good quality FHD that is 5" bigger than a low-end smaller UHD.

Share those model numbers with us and maybe we can help.
 
Thank you for the input. The budget is roughly R8000 - R10 000 and the UHD models I'm looking at are the following (I am however open to other suggestions)

SAMSUNG - 48" ULTRA HD TV
Model: 48JU6000

LG - 49" UHD LED TV
Model: 49UB700T.AFB

LG 49" (125cm) Smart UHD LED TV
Model: 49UF680T

HISENSE - 50" UHD SMART TV
Model: 50K321UW
 
Any recommendations on a 48 inch tv? Budget is 9k max.

Will use it for my pc. Not a rushed buy, so can wait...when do this year's models appear in stores?

Cheaper because of lack of SMART which is pointless anyway as you're using it for your PC
 
^ yes same one, was just slightly cheaper on the daily deal.
