LCD/led/plasma specials

Foto Discount World's site is offline... what gives? Are they going to stop selling on-line or is it temporary?

In February it will get insane. :p

sales should start soon...

I'm suddenly in the market for a new TV as my old TV wouldn't switch on when I got home last night.
I was thinking of getting one straight away, the FDW offers look good, but it sounds like you suggest one waits a while for better prices?
Am I rite or am I wrong?

Given that the new models should be released relatively soonish.. I would wait for awhile.

I'd say that to him if his current TV was working, but seeing as it's broken perhaps waiting isn't the best option? Also with all tech if you keep waiting you will never get.

That's the thing .. I'm not that fussed about not watching TV for a while & I can have the old one fixed instead of buying a new one, but if I do decide to wait how long should I wait for it to be of real benefit?

I'm not a huge TV fan, watch mainly movies or whatever I've got on the media player at the time. I'm still on SD DSTV so from reading on here I recon lower limit something like the Samsung PS43D490 43" Plasma (going for R6k) or upper limit something like the LG 42LW4500 Cinema 3D (around R8k).

Is the D450 decent? My neighbour is looking for a new TV. Primarily for watching films off media player and DSTV. Cos that price seems really good.

Definitely, it's well suited for those tasks. Just not for rooms with bright light/sun falling on the screen.

How bright is bright :-P

It's in a room with a large slide door (the sun doesn't directly hit the door as far as I'm aware) but is off to the side in a little nook/corner.

Game has some awesome specials on tv's as well, check their weekly leaflet.

If the room is well lit you may struggle with plasma, lots of glare. Power consumption is also high. With led coming down in price it may be worth checking out but game has both plasma and led that they can go look at and decide.
