LCD or Plasma

Liquid Crystals FTW!

Waiting for Article to turn into a LCDvsPlasma Brawl

IME Plasma is very nice. My laptop has a plasma screen and it is schweeeet!

Plasma is dead, or will be very soon. Full 1080P LCD has stabbed it in the chest and LED backlit LCD's will lob it's head off.

that sounds like a fatality from Reptile or something... :D

I have plasma in the living room and lcd in the bedroom, use both for movies and sport, the plasma looks better and was allot cheaper than lcd. I do not use HD. So if I must choose, i will say that I prefer the "warmth" of the plasma compared to the "crisp" look of the LCD for my application.

Recently finished reviewing 5 HD TV's for an Av Mag and can definately say that as far as LED backlighting goes, it is not there yet. It initially looks impressive but is hard on the eye and this leads to rapid eyestrain.

To level the playing fields all TV's were calibrated using some sophisticated calibration equipment I have.

In my opinion the best TV if you mostly watch SABS, E, or SD DSTV is still a good old 100Hz CRT. All other HD TV's have to scale the incoming image and this often leads to an inferior image.

a 46" CRT? How do transport that thing? helicopter?

LOL I was wondering that myself, I have a 72cm (whats that about 30"?) and the thing is almost too big to lug around, and good luck mounting that thing on a wall.....:D

not a bad res - not bad at all!:o

I'm just checking now... not sure if it is a plasma after all. it looks like one cos of the gloss... but HP calls it "contrast-boosting semigloss black finish".

I think it might be LCD underneath.
