It is a professional display panel so shouldn't really have speakers / tuners. Not completely sure though. Panasonic's are great though.

Plasma's=Good (better than LCD), BUT they are big heat generators!

I have a Hitachi 42" plasma for 5 years & 99% happy except for the amount of heat they generate. In South Africa this can be a big influence and no salesman will make you aware of it. Pls take note of this point for what's it worth when making a final decision

I'm from Rustenburg and when its on the whole day you do start feeling heat in the room which result in: => running a aircon to bring down the temp => resulting $$$$ jump in the electrical bill!

I'm also looking at the 46" LED Series 8 for replacement

There's your problem. Latest model Plasma are alot more effiecient than 5 year old models. My 2008 LG plasma stays cool n quiet. I don't even think it has a fan in. The deal breakers for LCD for me was viewing angle and response times. It's fine if it is only you watching on one couch but someone sitting on another couch at another angle will only see 50 - 75% of the actual colours on screen. And then there's the response time, which translates into motion resolution. That nice 1080p LCD's resolution is fine for still images (what LCD's was designed for in the first place). But as soon as that image starts moving, that resolution can drop to below 400p. A non-issue with plasma's 0.00001ms instant response times.
