Just bought a Samsung 40" LCD and would like to wall mount it.
(Keep it out of reach of 2yr old son)

I bought one of these Ellies Wall Mounts. Any tips or tricks I can get before I attempt tackling "The Mount"?

Also what is the ideal viewing height?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew :wtf:

Get some fischer wall mount anchors. There are easier to use.

Sit down in your viewing chair. Measure height of your eyes form ground.

Mount middle of LCD at same height and centre to you viewing position. Try not to set up the LCD to look down or up at you.

Not sure - I just used normal square trunking from builders warehouse.

Initially I was looking at going the wall-mount route as well but I was rather lucky - the TV unit I bought a couple years back works great with the 40" I bought recently. When seated the viewing angle is spot on - middle of screen is pretty much level with eyes.

Good luck!

I like the idea of the Ellies mounts that allow you to lock your TV to the wall - making life a bit more complicated for burglars.

buy two as it has a spot for two pad locks. Get a padlock with the smae key for both

As you are in Durban try Stanmore cables for the trunking approx R1000 per metre.

When we put ours in the bedroom I just took the empty box and held it up while the wife determined the most comfortable height & position. Worked perfect. Also on hiding the cables I just took some plain white cable wrap that cost me R10 per meter, looks great till we actually bother to care about hiding the cables.

ehehhehe. i went a bought a wall mount and a padlock. just need a cable organiser. now that i have mounted the tv, it think a plasma/lcd tv needs to be mounted on a wall... those plasma stands don't do the TVs justice...

where can i get those cable organisers guys, all i find at the shops are those black curly cable organisers?

Has anyone used one of those locks with the built in alarm that you get on bidorbuy? I want to use that on the ellies mount, but dont know if its a gimmick, or not.
