le Creuset

One of the best purchases I ever made.

**** off expensive at full price but does the job so well.

And if you didn’t own anything else you can technically use the bottom as a regular grilling pan like I have in fact done and even cook your steak in there.
Worth it at this price?

Yeah there’s a pretty solid price. By and large I don’t buy anything from them unless it’s at least 30% off and then usually with eBucks.

You are still never making your money back but if you enjoy baking your own bread and rolls and things it’s a solid vanity project.

Hmm ok, I got it in my cart.

Any reason not to buy it?
I mainly just bake bread using a Kenwood Chef XL mixer and loaf tins. Maybe this will expand my bread-baking skills a bit ?

What's the advantage of this over a large casserole for baking bread? It seems pretty specialised as compared to the versatility of a casserole.

And whats the Kenwood Chef XL like? I'm in the market for a new mixer.

Being inverted is the main trick so it’s much easier to work with, since you mostly want to pre-heat them especially when doing sourdough.

Now you don’t need to do a dodgy drop into a deep casserole and hope for the best.

Yeah this is more geared for making rolls or sourdough, so you’ll definitely expand on your baking vocabulary.

It’s ideally designed for generating steam by being enclosed and therefore getting a much taller oven spring.

I mostly do everything bread between my KitchenAid and this.

Occasionally I’ll make a banana bread in Le Creuset stoneware loaf “tin”.

Granted I don't bake a lot of bread since lockdown ended, but I've always just lowered it into the dutch oven/casserole using parchment paper.

The Kenwood is sweet. I have no other reference. After my mother passed away, I took it and started using it.
Seems solid enough.
