Learning to Cook

What's the best way to learn to cook a good meal?

I've been through some YouTube, some websites, etc.

I want to impress the lady a bit :)

Backstory: Relatively fresh / new relationship and want to impress with some cooking.

I've been to a cooking classes with my female unit.
One 5 evening course and about 10 other single classes.

It's a night or day out and you both get to learn.

That's terrible advice. Everyone should learn how to cook.
I agree. And at no point did I say the OP should not learn how to cook. In fact, I said it's great.

*Edit - basically learn to cook cos cooking can be cool and fun, not to impress a girl for one meal. Rather admit you can't and enjoy beans on toast together, than try make something you've never made and worry about if you added too much salt.

Yes but if it wasn't for progress made by trying to impress girls society would probably still be in the Middle Ages.

I learned how to cook in the army and working in agriculture. Heat stuff up and put other stuff with it so that you don't throw up. Then refine the methods. Chicks dig it!

lies ...they stick with it until they have had enough and leave

One of the most versatile things you can also make is a Bechamel sauce, it can be used in pastas, vegetables, etc... can also be used as a base for other creamy sauces like pepper/mushroom/cheese.

Very versatile.

There's a channel on YouTube called Binging with Babish. Apart from the cool stuff he makes, there's a segment he calls Basics With Babish where he teaches you basics for sauces, pastas, meat etc. Learn from that channel myself and it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Do you already cook for yourself most days or what's your daily food situation?
Nope, mostly a complete noob. I can make egg any way and noodles amongst a few other odds and ends, example, I can braai and I can make a green salad :p For other things, I mostly just read the recipe or ask people politely to teach me.

I love Andrew's channel... The whole concept of it.
