I am buying a Polo and one of the optional extras is LED lights. The cost comes up to an additional R10k. Is there any advantage of getting LED lights over the standard lights?

LED lights make you see in the dark
non LED lights will make you see in the dark
based on that, LED's not required, save the 10k

BUT
if you have the 10k to burn, why not?

Its typically brighter and clearer than any non XENON setup. And looks cooler. If its worth the extra R10k is entirely up to you, but my gut says its one of the nicer options to tick.

Just a thought, unlike XENON's... its not more expensive technology than traditional lights. You can buy very bright LED's for your bicycle for a few hundred bucks. This is a genuine case of VW ripping you off. It should be a R2500 option at most

qft
However, it is very nice to have as a contributor already pointed out.
This is really a question about, do you have the 10k to splurge.

sure because the led in a flashlight is comparable in output, complexity and requirements to an automotive headlight.

to the OP: it really depends on how much night time driving you do as well as your eyesight. After 7 years of driving a car with Xenon lights, I would not go back to a car with Halogen lights very willingly.

Of course you must take that option. I'm sure you also financing the vehicle right ? so extra rands here or there wont hurt.

Just trying to make a point. Xenon justified the price in terms of tech cost, and cant be made to work on a bicycles. LED can be used in a much more inexpensive way than XENON, point being that VW are being douche's for making this such a costly option. This decision is more about is it worth it or not. For me, im 50/50 if its worthit. and will probably end up taking it because I do many irrational things

best option on a VW is extend to full 5yr motorplan and not worry about replacement costs. should be about R18k for 5yrs of zero stress

The cost to replace is huge compared to normal headlights.

Damage should be covered by insurance, I would take it. The polo looks a lot better with it fitted. Plus if you will be paying that kind of money for a small car it should at least look cool.

The code says: LED H/L + LED Tail lights (Forces 8SK: LED Taillights). I assume they include dipped and main beams.
