LED vs Plasma

Haha ichigo, trolling the salespeople. I never ask them for anything as they're always appearing so desperate for a sale - following me around wherever I go. Incredible Connection's people are the worst. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a sales agenda. They always seem to push LED, and don't even mention plasma.

Which model Samsung are you interested in?

Space_Chief - I didn't know Dion Wired was one of those places. Don't remember seeing dedicated rooms last time I went to the one in Canal Walk. I'll call them and ask. There are a few of the better places in the Waterfront mall, so I guess I'll be going there sometime soon.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I though DW had seperate rooms. If not, Audio Vision then and there is a high end home cinema place near Tygervalley. But I would go with a Panasonic Viera Plasma, ;).

Salespeople always have an agenda. At IC they get a cut of each sale.
 
I figured they work on a commission basis. Unbelievably annoying - to the point that I actually don't wanna go in there anymore.

Do you know what the Tygervalley place is called?
 
There's something else I've been wondering about. I'm not at all interested in 3D. I've tried it, and it's not for me. However, I may get a 3D TV just because the feature happens to be included with the TV in which I am interested in for other reasons. 3D is present in a lot of TVs nowadays.

Am I correct in saying that the source is 3D, and that it's not the TV that makes it 3D? If I was to watch the TV with a 2D source, I'd be looking at exactly the same thing I would be seeing on a non-3D TV?

AFAIK you get both. You can get conversion and native viewing.

You should rather test TVs in higher end shops like Audio-Vision or Dion. They have dedicated rooms with dedicated players. The stuff playing on in Makro or Game looks bad quality.

That's their general quick recommendation. 40 degrees is what they consider the optimum minimum angle and they're quite right - for anyone whose goal is immersion. You can go closer. Fact remains that the distance the user was sitting from their 46" screen falls right in the THX recommended viewing range (because the full recommendations give a range). Some people don't care about immersion and they then go around telling people to sit far away from their TV.

Then seating distance will be 84cm. Would have to be 64" for 2m.

I had some slight retention that went away after a few mins
use it sometimes as a PC screen, ie 60" plasma ;)

but think it more prone to that in the beginning or I just dont notice it anymore
 
What was it that got retained? The taskbar? Do you do anything special to prevent that from happening when using it with your PC? I plan to use whatever screen I get as a monitor half the time.

was the white windows on a black background

now I have grey background, hidden icons on the desktop and auto hide taskbar
also have the TV set to pixel shift/orbiter mode

I try not to leave menus and other items on too long either, its just good practice imo
prevention is better than cure
