Lego Thread

Do most toy stores sell just the regular non-themed lego? Any suggestions on best place to buy (I'm in CPT or online) would be appreciated :).

I saw an Article about how they were banned in the states something about how swallowing more than one can be fatal.

Yep. A TV show called a thousand ways to die or similar run a story where a guy died because he swallowed a few of them. When they got into the intestines their intense interaction caused ripped his internals apart. Unsure how this happened but I can imagine it must have been incredibly painful.

holy *four letter word starting with F thats blown my mind as to what you can do with lego!!! damn all u! now i am most likely gonna blow my bonus on lego!!! i dont like this thread!

Am I the only one thinking these 'themed' lego sets are rubbish & the only proper way to go is the old-school square blocks and nothing else?

I agree the themed lego takes the creativity out of lego, which to me is the whole point of lego.

Though they make good decorative pieces

EDIT:

that video is possibly the coolest thing i have ever seen

Yes, you can get them from Game, Makro, Toy Kingdom and there is a Lego store near Woolworths on Palmyra Road in Claremont. I'm sure Toys R Us and Reggies also sell the boxes of bricks.

Have not seen non-themed stuff here besides technical lego which you can use for anything.

I personally love the themed stuff here for the specialty parts :D.

An alternative to lego is Meccano sets. Crazy expensive, not as easy as Lego but still awesome fun nonetheless.
There's also Capsela, but these are both about very different things to Lego, although there are some Lego sets that bear some resemblance to them.

Game sometimes has a special on the box of blocks. Also check out Kalahari as they often have some good specials. I bought a dozen boxes (yes 12) of girl & boy lego sets for R99 that normally go for R200-R250 last year. Made great presents.

Also keep an eye on Makro "specials". I bought some Lego non-themed boxes today at a very good price.

Kiddiwinks is the shop on Palmyra Road in Claremont. Surprisingly their prices can be less than the bigger shops and even the other online shops.

I had a dream last night. In this dream I was rummaging around in an abandoned house and I found two crates filled with lego of all kinds. I woke up and I was sad that it was just a dream.

Had a few dreams like that and there were so many old lego sets I wished I had and was so disappointed.
