Leopard vs. Vista: feature chart showdown

Vista lost, but not by much hey. I was expecting it to be thrashed, tho when it comes down to how irritating the OS is i have to say, vista is UNBEARABLE !!

Plus a few of its wins are version specific and cant b found on the std version :P

Agh - well the list is just for a bit of fun. I've found plenty of things on either side I would disagree with :)

Hope they fixed the Finder.
My hope is they resolved that annoying network "feature" whereby the system would hang if a network share was no longer available.

Considering you can run Leopard on a 867Mhz processor it beats Vista hands down. Vista is really mediocre and is essentially Microsoft's attempt to catch up to OS X in terms of quality.

alf101 you mean you can't use international sites, or something else ? lol

Yep, only have some openweb local left.
Tx, can`t get in there, need a username/password.

Annoys me too.
Most annoying is when front row hangs even when my external hd is connected.

Hopefully no pc users are reading about our gripes.
Ammo for the next Mac vs PC thread.

Don`t remember seeing front row mentioned in the 300 list, but I know there`s a new version where u can read the "long" movie/mp3 titles.

What kind of external?

iirc according to the 300 list Frontrow is going to be the same as, or similar to, the Tv.

USB - Seagate 500GB.
I`ve got an alias in my Movie folder that points to it.
Sometimes it hangs when i try to access it and can`t get out of front row untill it times out, which can take a while.
There are a few forums out there where people have the same problem, no fix for from Apple yet.

I saw some screenshots of the new front row on the Apple site, back when I still had some international BW left. They don`t go into much detail though.

Which seagate? Not the Barracuda in the grey push button case by any chance?

Could still be the same problem as mine and its not osx but the drive determined to put itself to sleep all the time. I set up a cron job to keep mine awake and it seems to do the trick.

Apparantly that is the problem, It takes a while to wake it up sometimes, doesn`t want to listen to front row sometimes.
Before I open front row, I usually use finder to wake it up.

This flow chart seems a little biased. For instance, gaming is a massive part of IT, but it was not taken into consideration here.

edit... ok, they brushed it away under this heading:

Gaming
Graphics core
OpenGL, Core Animation DirectX 10
Game network
None
Xbox Live Anywhere

and they compare some built in apps in windows with not so 'out-of-the-box' features of OS X that are actually part of iLife, which is only included with a new mac not a new copy of Leopard....

I wonder who the bright guy was who labeled Windows Activation a feature?
