Let's talk Cologne

Where do you Hawas locally. I'm keen to try it.

I have a few Armaf fragrances and they are brilliant for the price.
I have a guy in Fordsburg that does plenty of middle eastern fragrances, incl Rasasi and Swiss Arabian, Armaf etc.. Pm me and il send you his whatsapp details..

I would imagine the cologne industry to be hard hit by the pandemic..
I don't know. I've actually bought more during lockdown then I ever have before.

Simply because I've been watching videos and reading up during the abundance of time at home and have gotten more interested in fragrances during this time. I spray for myself. Like literally. I work at home in boxers and my gown yet I still put some thought into my scent for the day.q

You are strange

These are my 3 bottles at the moment. OL for most occasions, the other two for special occasions (so haven't worn much over the last year or so). Absolutely love them all.IMG_20201203_112507.jpg

Nope not Rio. He does mostly middle eastern. Ajmal, Ard Al Zafran, Rasasi, some clone houses. Ive drifted alot to the middle eastern houses, as there are plenty of hidden gems
Please will you give some info on each if you are so inclined?

I am totally ignorant of these but I have smelled some in the past that I would really like to understand better.

Opinions on Dior Sauvage?
Watched a few YT vids and it's always rated very highly.
Currently wear Mont blanc explorer.

You have good taste. Aventus to me is overrated but we aint going there.

MFK and that Ombre leather is both amazing.

Yoh, thats a cheap old hatchback in 3 bottles of perfume. Nice though. I tried BR540 and it felt too feminine to me though. Very candy flossy.

Its really common in the fragrance community but not so much so in the general public. I have it on my to buy list in EDT formulation. I really like it. Its far from a natural smell, but really fresh and masculin.

Majority of the middle eastern fragrances are pretty long lasting, and come across heavy if you overspray.

The Ard Al Zafran one you can check here by Chris of Fragmental. Its a very good clone of Tom Ford Black Orchid. I paid something like R250 for it, not sure what its at now

Rasasi Hawas is similar to invictus Aqua the 2016 version, highly rated

One of the best Rasasi is La Yuqawam. Leather based fragrance. Expensive locally though, but overseas its considered a cheapie

Another Rasasi is Daarej, which is similar to a classic in Valentino V

A fantastic cheapie you won't regret buying is Sean John 3am, i have it, its lovely

Similar to Dior Homme Intense, is Iceberg Man

Mugler Pure Havane alternative is Reyane Tradition Insurrection Wild. This is a cherry pipe tobacco fragrance. I have it, its awesome

Creed Aventus is so overrated and expensive. In fact, the entire creed line is over priced. Bacarat Rouge 540, yeh its okay, but not for me.

If you want something nice, get Le Labo Santal 33, Bond No 9 New Haarlem, Maison Margiella By the Fire Place, or Roja Dove Elysium. Mancera Cedrat Boise is also fantastic

Haven't tried it for a while but something similar is Chanel Bleu de Chanel and I tried the EDP a while back and that was seriously good and excellent longevity.

About 95% close to Tom Fords Black Orchid.. Note that TFBO is a female fragrance, but the oud 24 hours is labled as unisex. This a dark chocolate, floral fragrance, so Gourmand ish. Some men might find it too feminine, but as a man, you can wear it. In fact, nothing wrong with a wearing a female fragrance..

Fredric Malle Portrait of a lady is one example

The exotic, rich and almost syrupy nature that characterises Ford’s signature women’s scent (arguably his most successful), Black Orchid, gives it a masculine edge and is a killer evening fragrance that should be enjoyed by either of the sexes. Created in 2006 by Givaudan’s David Apel (who also created Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia and Purple Patchouli) it’s a hedonistic oriental chypre with an opulent, dark heart. The alchemy of French jasmine, ylang-ylang, blackcurrant, bergamot, lemon and mandarin serve an uplifting rush in its top notes with fruity and spiced accords and an imaginary scent of black orchid (achieved by combining lotus and gardenia) at its centre. Its woody base of patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, balsam and vetiver are given an even more luxurious slant, combined with black truffle, dark chocolate, incense and amber. One of the trailblazers in feminine fragrance: complex, long-lasting and unmistakeable
