There is a bit of development on the GameSir end of things. A lot of manufacturers, from all over the world, allow macros. Macro use has unfortunately been exploited for competitive advantages. There are also a number of hacks that make use of macro coding for obfuscation. Obviously, this has become a major issue not only in esports but in any competitive game mode. A lot of this builds on controller aim assist. I am not even touching on k+m masquerading as a controller for that purpose.
A good while ago, GameSir had RC filters built into its software, and this was destined to be taken advantage of. This was by no means unique to GameSir. This has been pulled by GameSir and others. Then there are the licensed XBOX controllers that never had that functionality at all, and GameSir also has competitive firmware (that removes all of that can be used for hacking bloat) for their other controllers that can be used by esports players. All good, right?
Then a little while ago, one of the major, but minor in the greater context of things, CoD leagues started protesting against the use of GameSir controllers. This is kind of funny, since the CoD scene, when it comes to third-party controllers, mostly makes use of SCUF and Battle Beaver controllers, as well as GameSir.
What is happening now is that Activision-Blizzard is banning people for using GameSir. Those flagged allege that it is due to GameSir's software application, Connect and Nexus (XBOX). GameSir is in talks with Blizzard, but according to them it didn't yield any results, and now they are collecting samples and taking the discussion to Microsoft to communicate to Blizzard on their behalf.
The game, as reported by GameSir, that is flagging players, is Overwatch. Though be cautious of CoD, and Apex, which are outside of this canopy. GameSir is encouraging players to send in samples, but I am not aware of what type of samples.
It is very possible that there is other software involved, developed by third-parties, that is exploiting GameSir. The other possibility is that players are using the old firmware and that they are possibly flashing the XBOX licensed controllers with modified firmware.
I am not sure how widespread this issue is since I don't play any of these games. By the time I got my G7 controllers, RC filters was already removed from the software and firmware. I am aware of hacks targeting peripherals, so GameSir is in the crosshairs of an massive cheat market reported to be in the high billions of $$$ now.
Just a notice: if you are getting banned by any of the legitimate use of the controllers and staying within the bounds of fair play for these games.
