LFM VOA 25 - Link GS and Ach

from all the lurking on various forums, and all my game time, it basically comes down to this: its 95% children (ie under age 18) that use GS so they can actually start a raid and hope to be carried. because no-one wants to raid with dkdklulzdk from the mommies apron string guild who is a lazy tw*t and cba to do just the littlest research (ZOMG is homewurkz i dunt do that noob) into his class.

Id rather take someone with less GS, and no knowledge of the instance/raid and explain it to him, because the man/woman/child has manners and can spell properly.

actually thinking about it, I would say the best indicator of if someone is able to do a raid, is basic grammar and spelling. it means they have some sort of a brain, and when told to gtfo of the fire, they will, and then not QQ when the die (im a durid) hey BR durid cos IM DED, and then spam me to ress them cos they think Im ignoring them (any idea how annoying that is when ur tanking?!)

Just regarding gamescore.

Had an ICC 25 pug going the other night with a min GS requirement of 5.4k

A lot of people who joined and were inspected had pvp gear to boost up their score, which isn't really a problem... as long as they using just the cloak(ilvl 264),wrists (ilvl 264), dps trinket you can get away with it, as long as you hit capped.
The problem is when you get idiots with green gems and NO enchants. (blue gems are completely acceptable.)
Or people who don't have good dps gear and try dps in their 5.2k gs tanking gear, and then you get those who know nothing about dps rotation... like a 5.5k gs moonkin who NEVER uses moonfire/insect swarm to boost wrath/eclipse.

GS of 5k is attainable through badge gear and PoS/HoR weapons + the Wrath pvp cloak.
GS of 5.4k is attainable through TOTC 25 gear.

If you going to group for pugs, at least recruit people from decent guild or alts of decent players.

Most pugs who do ICC 25 never get past Saurfang. After that boss you need a bit of a brain.

To further bury Dyanamo, I shall provide further proof of Angellus' reference:

Ulduar in blues
ICC in blues

I believe the terms "oh snap" and "you got served" are in order...

To further bury Cynicster that is a guild with people who know the instance and use communication (eg vent or ts). IT IS NOT A PUG OF 4K GEAR SCORE PEOPLE which my example and this whole thread is about. Cynicster, do a ICC PUG with random people with 4k GS and under. Now come tell me it is doable. maybe 1% doable but other than that its impossible. Firstly at that GS your tank only has 28000 hp, amour is at 58%. Marrogear will do 22K dmg PER HIT with that gear so will have to be spam healed, DPS is low so whole raid takes more damage, healers run oom as not enough mana/regen at that gear level eaither. Obviously a skilled guild combo with the right setup can do it but are most pugs that?

Since there is only one ICC10, 2 if you really want to count Heroic as a seperate instance then I'm going assume you mean bosses and then I'm going to have to burst your bubble.

Guild doing Marrowgar in only iLvL200 Blue items..... go work out what GS that is.... EDIT- Just noticed they now cleared Lady Deathwhisper and Gunship as well.

And your other challenge for ToC25 I'll just accept that one for poops and giggles as well. ToC was the weekly this week on our server and we actually ran a pug exactly like what you suggested. no GS requirement, didn't even ask for achievement or specify "skill". We cleared the whole place without a wipe. Had one person get charged by icehowl though.

Blizzard already checks gear for raids, try que for ICC in /LFR with crappy gear...

Ok i stand corrected. But in my defense that is a brilliant guild with exceptional players. Can this be done in a pug with no communication? Yes but very very unlikely.

This whole thread was about pugging and gear score was it not? Nobody cares about gear score in a guild. I think you also need to do some reading. I was proved wrong about the GS requirement for ICC, I accept that. But riddle me this? Can a PUG ICC with same gear as that guild complete ICC succussfully, especially when you have the high potential of atleast 4-8 of those people never been in ICC before?

I started playing my mage again as something to do when not raiding on my main, he's in mostly tier 9 and tier 8 with some heroics epics, and i outdps some guys with tier10/icc gear in voa pugs and heroics.

GS isn't worth a crap if the guy behind the toon is slacking off, and boy do they slack off in pugs.

I kinda hate this whole GS requirement thing, but at the same time I understand it, as it still make a difference in the time that you can stay alive in a raid, the longer u stay alive the more you can contribute to the raid, even if you'r dps score isn't up there. As I only have 4.9k GS on my lock now, I need to start join raids to get better gear, but most of the time i need 5k+ to join a pug, so I equip my 2 trinkets from truimp, to up my GS to 5k, but that cause my dps to drop.

This is why it's a stupid and exploitable system and why morons who insist on using it rather than simply inspecting your character's gear and spec, deserve the fail pugs they inevitably get.

I do both but dont want to check the whole server when i get 50 wispers (If I say /2 LFM ICC 10 man come to dala bank for inspect) instead of /2 LFM ICC 10 man 5300gs min come to dala bank for inspect and wisper 4 boss achive.

I must admit i fell into this trap when i came back, my guild just killed yoggie 3 times when i left, so i had the normal ulduar gear and not even full sets of stuff and i mixed and matched just to get my gs up to where i would get into groups.

I have 277 legs, hands and shoulders, 264 nec and 264 ring but my 264 legs, hands and my 200 trinket i got my 1st trip into naxx, are way more worth to me and my spec than any of that higher level items.

I can equipt everything i have and be 6200 or be 5800 with 1k more dps

Your original argument was that GS was a helpful tool to put PUGs together (check you first post). We've proven that GS isn't even worth shyte by:
- Showing that low GS players with skills can get more done that some with high GS
- Showing that GS can easily be tricked with incorrect/PvP/Alt Spec gear of high level

So sorry but you're still the one being buried as you failed to prove any value to GS apart from being a tool to measure epeen or "Zomg I kan haz kewl lewtz".

Ok according to Cynicster everyone is a pro player (even freshly dinged 80's) and know there class to its optimin and never have to ask for achievements and hope they have read the tactics or have done the encounter before. Only requirement for a raid is to check 50+ peoples gear to make sure they have the right gear, gems and enchants and by the way they speak they are "bright". Havent done many PUGS have you?

Not at all... The bottom line which has already been proven :

- Its inaccurate
- Its crap
- Idiots rely on it because they dont know of any better, and also because according to them high GS = High DPS + high skill

The sad part is, even though you acknowledge how inaccurate and crap it is, you still rely on it.
No wonder the game has degraded to these levels...

It's spelt "optimum". I know spell check is hard...
(In-line corrections of a few other spelling/grammatical mistakes)

I've done my fair share of PUGs thank you very much for asking.

Please do also point out where I state that all players are professionals, I'd love to see where I made such an outrageous statement.
Can't find it can you? That's because I never made such claim. Stop putting words in other people's mouths, it doesn't help your already low credibility.

my warrior has 5.7 gs with tank gear. Because I'm lazy, i dont tank pugs. If they ask why my dps is crap, I reminded them that all they wanted was high gs and the achievement. No mention was made of any skill or dps required :D. Dummies....

In the end the only way to build a capable raid group is to know all the people and know what they're capable of individually. This is why guilds exist in the first place.

I acknowledge that GS can serve as a very rough estimate for forming pug raids, but it's important for raid leaders, especially pug raid leaders, to realise that it's just one tool, and if you're trying to build a working engine you can't just use one tool. If your gut says, whoa, this guys GS is a little high, why's he pugging this raid, do yourself a favour and plug is character into wow-heroes, better yet /inspect. If he's plate dps and wearing a spellpower gear for example, chances are he's not the pug raider you want in your pug raid.

i personally dont use it to build pugs groups, i take guys out of high end guild, if i don't the guild the guy is from i don't take him, for voa i will have 15 guys that i know is decent then take some randoms, as i don't mind boosting people for there gear as long as they not in my class range :P

Same here. If I see a pug advertised I first see which guild the leader is in. All counted I think there are about 5 or 6 guilds on LB that I would pug with although that being said, some of the biggest asshats I've met in WoW are from one of the top raiding guilds on our server.

Do not pug anything with The Illuminatí.

yeah pretty cocky that guys some carpe noctem guys, *cough cough rained* :P some is still decent that i will pug with
