LG 2D to 3D tv

one thing to consider

Based on our extensive lab measurements and visual test comparisons between 3D TVs with FPR Passive Glasses versus 3D TVs with Active Shutter Glasses, we found that the Passive Glasses TVs delivered substantially and demonstrably better all around 3D imaging, 3D Contrast and sense of 3D depth, better 3D sharpness, better overall 3D picture quality, immersion and realism, and freedom from 3D ghosting, image Crosstalk, and flicker. This was true in all but a small number of situations, all of which we document in the sections mentioned above.

AFAIK D3x! and his wife are the main viewers, so possibly 2 - 3 pairs would be needed. R350 per pair.

Is it not lower resolution than active?

Thanks for the link. Awesome TV, just look at those colours and contrast. But only for dimmer rooms, as we always recommend. Matte cover is interesting, was thinking about the possibility of using multiple iPad protectors. :D

would prob start with 2 and then get another 2 at a later stage

No it's not lower in resolution and you know it as you partook in the thread where it was proven that the LG 3D cinema TV's is now certified as full HD in 3D per eye. Then about the "darkness", not everyone wants to use their TV in a cave. Then there is the glare problems to consider and as for the matte cover you lose PQ (picture quality) so that is pointless. Then the "burn" in concerns remains a factor as that is by far not eliminated, no matter how they spin it.

So all in all the LG 3D Cinema LED TV's is better value for money, and more family/visitor friendly, considering all the facts in reality. Read the 3D TV shootout ;). Maybe that is why Samsung is also coming out with a passive 3D TV solution in 2012.

In your case, you would then have to add R3500 to the price (of an active plasma) and some more for head-ache pills and have medics on stand by in case of someone getting an epileptic fit :D (seriously), unless you are a medic yourself.

540 lines per eye. Technically not Full HD, but I guess LG paid enough. :D

OP has a cave, well at least a room conducive to their PS42C430.

Slight drop in PQ, still miles ahead similarly priced competition.

Funnily enough OP did get burn-in on their original PS42C430. :D And a host of other issues as well. It was deemed the TV was faulty from the start which led to this. Swapped out under warranty (for burn-in).

Perhaps better value if you're having 12 - 13 guests over. ;)

Such poor response is becoming the PP standard? So you are either BS again or never even read the links proving the facts in reality.

LG 3D cinema technology is 1080i per eye displayed at such a cycle and frequency that both the left and right eye experience the FULL HD content. Ditto.

The rest of your "arguments" just do not warrant any further debate.
 
With all the noise removed, their is no doubt that if u want a 2D-3D, certified 1080p 3D TV, certified flicker free TV, that works excellent under all conditions, then buy the LG CINEMA 3D TV of a size that you can afford. Its future proof, your friends will love it as well etc. etc. I have one, so I talk from experience and so are many other mbb members - just have a look around.

Its simple PP stands for Plasma Prophet - you can never change a persons beliefs, even with facts - its like a religion.

What beliefs? OP has a plasma and prefers it? Same like me and others? Don't understand how they are beliefs if tests/comparisons have been done.

Because it doesn't flicker - even if I say it a 1000 times you will not hear. LG Pasive TV is certified 1080p per eye, and certified flicker free. It doesn't make you sick - its better - get it? No - Why??? I rest my case.

Not worth the effort debating with you as the 540p argument was debunked in a thread you partook in, yet you keep on referring to it. Roman accepted the fact that LG improved their technology and now received full HD certification, You on the other hand just ignored the information and facts and continue spreading BS as far as you go to suit your own preference of plasma Tv's. Debating with you or giving you any information and facts are just useless. As they say you can never convince a stubborn ....

I post here for the benefit of others to see through your stubborn and outdated "recommendations".

Links to the tests/comparisons please. Sorry to say I just cannot trust or take your advise and "recommendations" seriously the way you demonstrated your plasma bias and lack of knowledge about the latest tv developments on this forum.
