I only realised this morning that I haven't restart my phone once since I got it.

Total uptime of 187 hours. With my previous phones I always restarted them every 3rd or 4th day because they started lagging.

I didn't even get any lag on the G4 after all this time.

Read a few reviews about the G4 and good feedback given, interesting one review giving the G3 a higher rating than the G4 so from what i gather the general consensus is that you all are HAPPY with your LG G4 ?

Anybody know if Telkom Mobile will be stocking this?

Otherwise, what is currently the best contract deal? Light usage. On Wi-Fi at work and home and make very few calls.

if u have FNB account u can get their smart device deal on LG G4 for R369 per month and then just use prepaid for your calls , most contract deals are in the mid 400 zars range and upwards

I haves it.... in my grubby little paws

Congrats , if you don't mind me asking what are your initial thoughts on the G4 ? I realise you have not had it for long but just on things like build quality and the leather as a back option etc would be great to hear .

Thanks. Will have a look at that.

But wife is going to be paying for contract for me because I am extremely forgetful when it comes to loading airtime/data. And then I can't phone or message her back and it frustrates the hell out of her.

Currently on Cell C prepaid and it is a horrible experience. So was looking at Telkom Mobile. Their prices seem real good.

My experience so far has been nothing but awesome. Lollipop is lollipop. Samsung really dit fark it up.

Build quality is cool. The leather back feels a little plasticy, but its still very good.

What pains me a little is the bloat. People complain about Samsung/Vodacom bloat but they honestly have no idea what they are talking about. At least with the Samsung I could uninstall 70% and disable the rest. With this, their is no uninstalling, just disabling (those useless Vodacom apps). But I guess same difference.

Animations is nice and smooth and phone is quite snappy enough to not wait to do anything.

All and all, you can paint me impressed.

Luckily my phone didn't get all that bloat. That is one thing I can say about MTN, they don't put all that bloatware only their phones.

Or maybe it's just because they don't do anything at all. Lol.

I had my first look at the G4 this morning on display at the local Cell C. Pretty device - it was next to a Note 4 and it looked so much nicer than the familiar Samsung design. I've got an upgrade coming up at the end of the month and would like to get your opinion on the amount of "upgrade" from a Note 3 to the G4. This is the first time ever that I haven't grown tired of my phone during the contract period and was set on getting the next phone because of xyz feature that I felt I was missing out on.

I'll probably wait until the Note 5 is announced before making my final decision, but I suspect it will be a LOT more expensive on contract than the G4. The Note 3 still feels so good after 22-months of use that I almost feel that I'll "waste" an upgrade when going for another device which is slightly quicker, slight increase in screen resolution and packed with features that I most likely wont use (heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner and even the stylus).

Do you think the G4 will "stand the test of time" - that I'll feel the same at the next contract renewal? Will the Snapdragon 808 keep up with apps and development for the next two years?

My phone is from FNB. I use prepaid sim from Vodacom. Geez, the second I installed the simcard into my new LG G4, the bliksem went online (I think?) and installed a Vodacom app and Vodacom home screen and Vodacom widgets. Geezuz WTF. It didn't even ask me. It just went ahead and installed all their crap and undoing all the custom homescreen setup I did minutes earlier.
Was all this info on the simcard, or did the sim somehow trigger the phone to download and install all this crap?
I cannot even uninstall this Vodacom app now. Grrrrr.
