Anybody had this happen to their phones?
See the screen looks like it's delaminating. It started since getting the phone back from boot loop repair. It's my Dad's phone now.

Are you sure that's not a screen protector? That looks like the screen protector I had on my phone.

Yeah I can see where the screen protector end (the speaker is open) and yet above it it seems to peel back too.

Does fixing the bootloop issue require them to take apart the phone?
The technician may have become heavy handed with the Heat Gun on your phone.

So I opened a game on my phone, switched to Telegram, wanted to switch back to game, phone froze. First time ever that my phone froze while I'm using it so I immediately freaked out. Went into bootloop (I think) but it came on again, went off again. I put it on again. I'm now quickly copying whatever I can from internal storage to my pc in hopes of not losing anything. It hasn't gone off in about 10 minutes and I'm just copying to the pc. There are too many things on there I don't want to lose. I also don't actually know if you lose anything. I put my data and wifi off when the phone went on the second time and not getting messages seemed to have made it not go off again (yet)

Wonder what the design fault was that means virtually every G4 craps out without fail?

low quality soldering that got passed their QA

2015 G4s are known to bootloop - i dont know of any 2016s that have looped

I'm just sad that the bootloader is locked and that i cant root and rom this biatch.

Definatly gonna make sure about that for my next phone.

Thanks :p Been rather busy at work. I bought it at Telkom in Lakeside Mall.

Earlier I unlocked it to change music and then suddenly it died. Restarted, went on, died. I took the battery out, restarted, died. I gave up

Exactly what happened to my phone restart, show logo then die, need to remove battery to be able to restart again only to die again.

For R200 smartlab will collect repair and return via courier, turn around 7 days, I should have done that, CellC has had my phone for 2 weeks and still none the wiser.

Been almost 3 weeks now and I finally got my G4 back, motherboard replaced, no issues with them claiming water damage.
Loving life back with Samsung and an S4, hard to believe but overall its faster and easer to use... and the battery lasts longer.

Checked Gumtree and there's lots of G4's going for under R3k :wtf: :crylaugh: , mine is still pristine and I'm going to sell it, considering how cheap they are already the sooner the better. You can quite easily get one for R2500 in great condition, an S6 Flat still sells for around R4k.

I am a little surprised that even the S6 was that low, perhaps the 2hnd market is over saturated with flagship phones coming out every year relentlessly and the market for them starting to tank.

maybe just try it now after the repair - my battery now lasts quite a bit longer and the phone runs much cooler

I'm over software keys and phablets, 5" Samsung is about the same useable area as a 5.5" phone with soft keys but less heft and more convenience.

The G4 is heavy and unwieldy compared to the S4 and at R1.5k I can afford to use the S4 naked and that is awesome.

The Samsung Amoled screen also smashes the LG Ips, either way the bottom line is the S4 is fast, svelte in the hand, only single drawback is the camera but I have a full sized camera for that. Granted I was looking at some Raw files captured with the Adobe Lightroom app on G4 just before it bust, they are incredible, the camera is amazing, both video and stills.

Can't wait to dump this G4. I so miss my Note 3. The rooting, custom roms, 5 hour screen on times... Sigh... I don't know why I even "upgraded".

I went to take my phone is on Saturday. Telkom says it's not under warranty anymore so they're not going to repair it for free. I bought it last year August.

Planning on taking it in to LG this weekend since someone has to repair it.

I miss my phone, currently using a zest T1 so there's a huge difference

Bought new from an official retailer last year(you or whoever you bought it from) , they have minimum 2yr warranty?

Also make sure you took it back to the network who originally sold it else they'll say it has no warranty(on their books).

The hoops they make you jump through for warranty is another reason to avoid LG, never needed pop with any other brand of phone for warranty, other brands they just check the warranty status on the system via the serial, if it shows as under warranty it's good to go. It may just be Cell C that does that but I saw other people mentioning needing pop for warranty.

I phoned LG and asked them where I can take my phone in. They said either drive to PTA or take it to any other mobile service provider if my current one won't fix it

That is extremely bad service from Lg. I will never support Lg again after this whole G4 disaster.
They should habe recalled the devicesin the beginning
