Don't have any issue like that with my phone. Maybe do a format and check if the problem persist. Or head over to XDA and check the Troubleshooting thread.

when it comes on for nothing, are you sure there is nothing in the notication tray (by actually opening it) from something like google now?

yes. try multiple times, nothing happens, and then have to press the button on the back.

It's becoming untenable. My phone is crashing on a daily basis - random reboots. Today it was crashed twice for no apparent reason. Anyone have the same problem?

wow, that's not good. have you done a factory reset? (i assume yes)
