What the fudge is the difference between clicking next to a tile to get to home and clicking on home to get to home?

Here's a tip for ya since you like handing them out so much: if people don't think/know that what you're wanting is impossible they'll start trying to find out what the motive behind your request is and suggesting the alternatives they can think of.

He's talking about poor scaling. The G4 has a 5.5" 2K screen and yet still only shows 3 or 4 recent apps, he reckons there should be scaling to take full advantage of the 2K res. Or at least better use of space.
He wants to see his last 26 apps in a neat little list that he can click next to to get back home.


Airborne NEVER get a Windows phone if you think Android's use of space is poor.

I think he must go write his own operating system, as nothing is as he wants it. And airborne, just so we are clear, you are not complaining about the G4, you are complaining about Android.

Never say never, I think he will :love: windows phone ;) Or at the very least, we will love him having one :D
 
But each vendor has there own way of displaying the recent task list(the list of apps you get when pressing the square soft key)?

Granted the G4 is my first lollipop device but the Xperia and Note on 4.42 each had their own way of displaying recent tasks but you could tap anywhere next to the recent task list and it would jump to the home screen. Perhaps it's a Lollipop limitation not just the G4?

There is method to my madness though, I use an app that allows swipes from the screen edge(and with the G4 hiding the softkeys in many apps incl nova) to operate back/recent tasks/home, the nice thing with swiping to see the recent tasks is previously I could instantly jump to the home screen(often used because I couldn't find the app I needed in the recent task list) by just tapping next to the task list, but I can't do that anymore, which is quite sad.

so you don't have the circle soft key visible at that stage? That's what I use to get from recent task list back to home screen

I do but I active the recent task list in the middle of the phone with a swipe from the screen edge with the thumb of the hand holding the device, big screen quite hard to reach down to the circle/home button and even harder if you've hidden the soft keys(and need to first swipe in from the lower screen edge to activate them). I have all the important app icons placed just below the position of my thumb so previously I could swipe to activate recent task list and then be able to touch the screen immediately below my thumb to jump to the home screen and the app icons that were positioned there clustered around my thumb position.

There's always ways around anything, much harder without root, suppose it's just going to take some getting used to and a few compromises. Will just have to see how long I can hold out till I get the moer in and root the phone. Must say as many have previously mentioned there is significantly less reason to root the G4 but if you want more customization root is often the only way.
 
OK, I see - let's hope there will be some cool new features with the new upgrade to Marshmallow

People normally had issues reaching the top of the phone when operating 1 handed. You have problems reaching the bottom.

Are you sure you aren't holding the phone upside down? Would love to see how you hold a phone.

Well on my Z3 with Lollipop I can't get to home by tapping in empty space either so it's probably more Lollipop than LG.

That said if you're using a custom launcher doesn't that change everything including how the recent apps look?
 
So over the weekend I installed that TSF launcher.

fiddled with themes for a while until I eventually settled on the leather theme.

then I changed my lock screen to a nice black leather based one.


now my phone when locked looks the same back and front :D

aside from that little sillyness, the launcher is actaully really really good.
the animations are really smooth and very cool. I have been on it for 4 days and I have not noticed any battery drain.

there are some gesture based features built in, that I disabled.
the alarm built into the launcher will go off separately to the built in alarm that I now cant get to easily, but that is fine.

honestly the launcher is legit. worth looking into if you are tired of the launcher you currently use. I prefer it to the other launchers I have used and will most likely put it on the tab as well.

It is awesome right. So smooth no lag at all and it just makes the phone look great. I actually went and installed it on my Meizu M2 Note too and it's just a awesome launcher. :D
 
Dropped my phone for the 4th time today...Damn slippery phone. No damage to my screen yet, but the metal-like plastic trim has taken quite some damage. Have now put it in a case.

Noticed if I select anything other than a stock lockscreen wallpaper smart lock stops working, is that normal?

Is there anyway to use wifi as a smart lock trusted device, wifi is not listed but I would have thought that would be a natural one to use?
