LG G4

My G4 started bootloop today, got my phone from Telkom Mobile. Phone get stuck on LG logo. What's my best option? Take back to Telkom? Is the a repair centre in JHB?
 
I wonder what % of G4 phones failed on the bootloop?

No "Sorry we fnucked you around" from LG

I will seriously have to consider if I ever get an LG again
 
Best thing to do with the tm phone is to take it to smartlab, if you fail to find one take it to a store you trust.

And bundu, it was 15% of g4 that had bootloop. Problem is service providers still selling the effected serial numbers after the fault was discovered. South Africa has almost 100% bootloop rate because all the phones brought in were in the range.

And there has been lots of communication from LG on the issue. Don't come here and say things like that without researching.

Lots of comms from LG Usa to the US market or LG SA to the SA market?

Because I registered my G4 with LG when it was new and got zero comms about the fault, my phone did eventually go tits up with bootloop. I haven't heard anyone on this thread mentioning an official Sa statement about the issue and a free repair, if there was one please post a link here.

Dude.
Phone goes into bootloop. Take phone to any repair center, they repair the phone for free. It's pretty much all this thread has been about for the last year.

Sure iFix will charge you. But smartlab, vodacom, mtn and even cell C Will fix it for free.

The link posted above is not for us only it is a global acknowledgement of the problem.

Stop trying to be a snowflake. Fix the phone for free and stop moaning, unless you did not get it locally there should be no issue at all fixing it even out of warranty period if you find a repair center worth its salt, if not go somewhere else

Oh no a post about a 2 year old flagship that had a problem is not the first thing on the social media, whatever will we do?

How about we forget LG has brought out 4 flagship phones since then?

How about LG cater only to the people that bought the G4 and forget about the people that bought the V10, G5, V20 and now the new G6 there should be no marketing for them at all.

But it's ok dude, there are nice people here on myBB that will take the 5 seconds out of their day to Google the answer for you because you were too lazy to do it.

Just remember, the G4 is a fantastic phone, that is now more than 2 years old, in an industry where 6 months changes the game.

Also remember the G4 is probably the phone used without a case by the most people due to the leather back, so phones simply got damaged more often than the S6 that came out at the same time, because everyone put the S6 in a case.

Now please, go fix your phones or upgrade like almost everyone in this thread has already done.

Or better yet, go buy an old 3310 because you clearly want something that will last more than 2 years, and smartphones are not built to last that long, if they were why would there be a new flagship every 6 months?

Xecutronix in Edenvale. I took mine there. They did some misplacement thing so people couldn't hear me on the phone, took it back to them, they fixed it on site without charging

huh? my phone is not my life, it's a tool, it should perform as promised when bought - mine I had repaired when it bootlooped - took 2 weeks to repair.... no apologies - you want me to HAIL LG!?

What do you want a personal apology from LG? Your phone was fixed, for free. But here you are hating on them.

I'm not saying praise them, I'm saying appreciate what you had.

I have trust issues with LG after my g4.
I won't even sell the old phone because I would not feel right doing so.
But I upgraded to the G6 because it's actually a fantastic phone.
Am I worried it will have bootloop issues? Yes.
Do I think that if there are bootloop issues LG will fix the phone quickly and without it costing me anything? Defiantly.
Does that mean I made a silly choice?maybe but man does the phone feel good in hand

Geez dude, you're still on here as LG's spokesperson?

You are saying "It's ok because LG is fixing it."
They are not choosing to. It's a warranty. They are obligated to.
A class-action lawsuit is currently attempting to force LG to repair all defective phones - far too late.

Then you disregard anyone who is complaining about a phone older than 2 years.
There are some people who are not completely blind to the wastefulness of paying R500+ per month per person for life on a phone.
You are saying that anyone not blinded by consumerism must not have an opinion and then insult them.
I do believe in buying flagship models to get something decent, but these have lasted myself and my wife 4+ years every time - and then still have a secondary use.
You are misled if you think phones do not last over 2 years.
 
Also lets not forget no Nougat and no custom rom support :(
 
Hey guys, got my phone back from Xecutronix last Friday.. not bad, sent in for bootloop on Monday, picked up on Friday, no charge.

On another note, anybody got Google Assitant working on your G4?

Hi guys,

Okay so the only place that still does warranty repairs for LG does seem to be Xecutronix, question when they do the repair does the phone come back completely stock? As in do you lose everything? As it's technically just the ram chip that's lost contact so they'd just have to reball that. I'm guessing it would be so as they'd have to replace the whole mainboard, which probably contains the rom chip.
