LG G5

I'm due for an upgrade in July. This would make a nice upgrade from my G2.

I'll see what the reviews are like when they come in but from first impressions I think this phone is near perfect.

ok the modular design is very cool, but I feel like they could have taken that a step further. I really like it, but I wont be rishing for a G5.

my G4 is still amazing, now that I have the battery issue sorted after the upgrade at least.

one thing that looks really interesting is the little ball thing. that is not really something we have seen other phone brands do at all. its quite interesting to me.

The modular design is interesting. I'm concerned what would happen if the device fell on the floor.

It would probably separate like the old nokia 3310s with the covers coming off. I wonder if the clip or what ever holds it would become loose over time. It does look rigid in the video, but would be interesting to see how it does over time.

So the question is when will the G5 be available in SA at our cellular vendors? I heard a radio add already advertising the Samsung S7 @ Cell C

Does the fact that the G5 thread is on page 6 and the S7 thread is on 64 indicate the future success of LG's latest and greatest?
I'm quite keen on the G5 - have been waiting since August 2015 for my next upgrade and hope that the G5 will come in on a better price than the S7. It's getting a bit ridiculous to pay R500+ just for the phone's subsidy when my trusty Note3 still keeps ticking on.

Nah, it's because the S7 has been released and the G5 is only next month.

There's a few reasons. Samsung banging the marketing real hard is probably the primary reason. But then when you factor in that the S7 is a cracking phone on top of that, unlike the S3-6, then you really have a winner.

Also the G5 hasn't been released yet. Also agree it's quite ugly. Also, it doesn't really matter if the G5 is a better phone than the S7, the S7 will still be the more popular phone. It's been this way ever since the S2.

Cant believe the s7 still has a god awful usb2 micro port. Come on guys, type c is here, and its the future.

Yes the Epic package is UnEpic. As far as I know you can not use your airtime value to buy data bundles. This forces you to buy data bundles for cash. Cell C contracts worst value of all providers.

Update: An LG spokesman has pointed Android Authority in the direction of this passage in the LG G5 press release: “the insulative antenna is invisibly integrated into the body without disrupting the seamless look of the metal uni-body.” We’re awaiting further clarification, but it does sound as though the section revealed in the video might just be a small plastic antenna section while the rest of the G5 body is indeed metal (other scratch marks in the video do seem to show a metal chassis underneath the paint). We’ll bring you further details as they arise.
