Leaked specs:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 808
2GB of RAM
5.2” 1080p unit with pixel density of 424 ppi
12.3MP main camera with f/2.0 lens, large 1.55 μM pixels, laser autofocus, and 4K video capture
Fingerprint sensor
USB Type-C port
$379.99 for 16GB version

Seems like a nice midrange option for people who want a Nexus experience at a (relatively) cheap price.

Looks great and good timing. I wonder how long until Orange have stock?

It sounds like a heavily diluted LG G4, 2GB RAM and HD1080P Display? I guess this will be the mid end Nexus.

I hope the Huawei Nexus 6P is a beast.

The G4s 808 should have never been used on a 2K screen. Using a 1080P screen with the currently best available (least problematic) Snapdragon is them rectifying their G4 mistake, and also getting much better battery life in the trade off. Admittedly though the cut back in RAM and cam isn't quite so nice.

There's no way the Huawei one is going to be a beast. Nothing will be a beast again until the wall that has appeared is smashed, although the upcoming 820 is a nice start, but not one that will arrive in time (nor that it's produced any real world results yet).

I think the Nexus 6P specs are pretty good, especially the battery: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...tal-body-gorilla-glass-4-and-3450mah-battery/

Is the G4 that bad??? The G3 also had a HW mismatch.

I'm guessing the Huawei will use a Snapdragon 810, which isn't exactly a great SoC.

I wish Google had gone to Samsung once again for a Galaxy Nexus e.g. Galaxy Nexus 2, with Exynos7420.

When I classify something as a beast or not I'm talking raw performance. So the power of the CPU, GPU and whether there is enough RAM. And the 810 is not beastly, the best out there perhaps, but it's an incremental one which has produced major problems. Nor is the Adreno 430 it's bundled with that impressive. Couple that with WQHD and you're worsening the raw performance even further.

A big battery is nice, but slapping a huge battery onto a Samsung A3 would hardly qualify it as beastly for instance.

Bad no. But they followed up an incredibly smart move with an incredibly stupid one by giving the Adreno 418 a whole 2K to manage.

I never said the 810 was great and I'm glad they didn't go with it. But a 2K screen needs a top of the line GPU, not the middle of the road. So if you're stuck with the middle of the road then you go 1080P.

Day to Day yes...playing games...which is what a GPU is used for...not so much.

It works fine for light gaming. It probably wont run Crysis :p but it works well for most games.

btw it has a "game optimizer" setting under battery options this
just forces games to downscale to 1080p to save battery life. It is enabled by default.

Now that I did not know about, pretty cool. If it's enabled by default it's still not quite enough though as I noticed the lag on my sister's G4.
Not sure but I think it doesn't work on all games, I read somewhere that they tested it with Dead trigger 2 and could not see any difference in res or performance.

I'm not really a gamer, but I have tried 1 or 2 heavy graphical games to test the "below par" cpu, and didn't notice any lag at all. I was very surprised by it. So calling it a mistake, is actually the mistake :p

Yeah I also don't play a lot of games on mine but the couple I tried so far worked flawlessly.

GPU, not CPU, the CPU portion is stellar.
And as I said I can notice the lag...granted I can also notice it with the previous gen 330, but it's still a fact that the GPU only has the oomph for 1080P and should never be subjected to 2K.
Not to mention that screen is also responsible for the sub-par battery life of the G4. Fancy schmancy it is...but also the phone's biggest flaw.
