The korean prices start at around 430 usd. The nexus will cost well over R6000 when importing here.

I'm ball parking it around 9K.

For ****'s sake.

I agree. I notice that the Orange Store price for the 32GB 5X tracks the Rand:pound exchange rate almost exactly.

Extrapolating from this, we can assume roughly the following prices for the other handsets:

Nexus 5X 16GB: R6,909.42
Nexus 6P 32GB: R9,126.26
Nexus 6P 64GB: R10,165.67
Nexus 6P 128GB: R11,787.08

That's rather harsh. Luckily I have a friend who has emigrated to the US, and is visiting South Africa for Christmas. He's agreed to buy me a 6P at the US prices, which should work out to about R7,222 for the 64GB version. Suddenly that doesn't seem so expensive anymore!

Can he bring 1 for me as well?
What will you do about the warranty or if something goes wrong?

Apparently there is an a sort of repair/warrantly program you can purchase along with the nexus 6P. Not sure if its international yet. Will have a dig around.

Probably none. All the right bands are there as far as I can tell.

It appears the north american version will not work with Telkom LTE, which is Band 40

Maybe have a looks at the below two articles. For Vodacom LTE it would be band 3 and for Vodacom 3G it would be band 1. Both covered by the US version of the 5X if I am correct.

LTE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
3G: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks
GSM: same for all 5X models

Getting my phone from ZEEK today and will test.

Would you mind doing a bit of a review on it today ? Just some thought on build quality etc . Im considering getting one and going back to stock android .

Stock android is the best in my opinion. I have no issues on my 2 year old Nexus 5. Still runs flawlessly.

I have read a few reviews of the 5X, i think a big issue is battery life. Even with Doze, its been reported as a problem on several reviews. The other major complaint is the 2Gb of ram. Some people like the plastic build other don't. Apart from that, they reviews have been great.
