Anybody out there using either the LG V30/G7? I am due for a phone upgrade soon, plan on moving over to android.

How are these devices? Are they worth getting now, or rather wait for the V40 towards the end of the year?

Used the G7 for couple weeks and not a bad phone at all.

I just hope the LG' V30 and G7 don't suffer the same issue as the V20 I have, the WiFi is troublesome, and needs to be switched off and back on again intermittenly for it to work.

Then there is the question of Android version updates.
The V20 was the FIRST to get Nougat (even before Google' own phones) and yet are still on Nougat, where some are getting upgraded to Oreo and beyond soon.
With no mention of a timeframe of a "flagship" level phone such as the V20 getting any love from LG.

Sad really, making me want to switch to Huawei since I really fell in love with this phone.

No, sorry for that hey.

I'm really considering these phones. I'm going to have a look at them at some shops, hopefully they have them in store.
I'm really loving LG's approach to the enthusiasts. I considered the Huawei P20 but I am not sold on it.

I'm a videographer, and like how the camera's can chase the "cinematic" look, not to talk about the audio DAC on the phones.

Tired of some brands locking and laughing at us out.

The V30 main selling point, is videography.
I was sorely dissapointed at the performance of the V20 this past weekend - I was at an amateur MMA night and recorded from a short distance away.
Video and picture under flourescent lights was... bad.

Im considering the P20 Pro quite a bit at this point, I do love the DAC on LG (constantly have decent headphones on listening to music while I work)

On the videography, can the p20 pro do cine log? I think that will be my "okay i can consider it" point.

There's your answer, V30 for videography.

Personally, as stated in another thread, I wouldn't go the Huawei route just yet,as they have left an important item from the P20 which is scratch resistant glass. You paying over R11000 and you actually expect them to include this.

I have just read about the galss durability (or lack thereof rather) and im weary now to get the P20 Pro even.
Argh

My mom has the phone and I'm actually shocked that it has managed to get some scratches .

I got the V30 2 weeks back, primarily for the quad DAC. LG delivered. Music is brilliant on this device (paired with B&O Play H6 cans).

What I didn't expect was the insane battery life. Best I have experienced on a phone - by far.

Dropped mine 6 hours after purchase, and with no case yet, cracked 2 corners. Thankfully not noticeable with a case on, but still. And I was like a 15cm drop.

As a LG V20 owner myself. Great phone no issues much much more impressive then the P20. I have recently upgraded to the P20 pro and I am going back to my LG as soon as i manage to get a new battery. After 2 years of use I still prefer the V20. Quality of LG can not be compared to Huawei. But you’ll find it in the smallest details such as the Quad DAC, and true wide angle lens.

I find no new tech only tested workmanship as flagships have not changed as much in the past 2 years.

Please keep up updated in some thread relating to your experience if you can ?
I am only due for upgrade Jan 2019 so there is some time yet for a newer version to come out for Software (Oreo, Pie ?)
Also please check if you have this same wireless bug they are not fixing..

What is putting you off the P20 (sorry to possibly derail the thread?)

I have the V30+, really like it. Good performance & battery, decent camera (especially the wide-angle!). Solid too.

Hahaha such great reviews on the V30, honestly don't like the way it looks but it has the features I need. Unfortunately I couldn't find physical devices anywhere so I could go through them thoroughly.
I might settle for the G7 though, because of the looks. At the same time, I want to wait & see what the upcoming LG flagship can offer.

My brother has the LG G3 til now he says the battery on that thing is insane, a bonus making it removable.

However how are the software updates on LG devices, especially for us right at the end of Africa?

Sure, will do.
Just paired a Daydream with my V30+. Ye! :) Gonna have some fun tonight.

P20 Pro was also on my radar until I learned there was no 3.5mm jack. Deal breaker for me. Otherwise brilliant device.

Honestly the camera I was expecting, the wide angle lens is very bad. This is felt when trying to take pictures of a bedroom there is no true wide angle. No 3.5mm Jack i have read that the P20 lite has the port but not the Pro.

no IR blaster
no removable battery
no true wide angle (170'')

To justify 15k phone as the best, when 2 year prior phones have equal even better specs for half the price.

Huawei has entered the big boys game in Mobiles now the marketing has become more aggressive.

I gave my V20 to my son this weekend. Great phone but the wireless issue, horrible photos under direct light and screen burn just got a bit too much.

So we need some good feedback on the v30 if this has been solved..
I was sad to see how the device performed under fluorescent lighting
