License renewal question

I am going to Edenvale DLTC on the 12 to renew my drivers license. The last time I did a renewal was in 2018 so I cannot recall if I needed photos or not. When I made the booking their website states I need to bring 2 photos if applying for a temporary license as well. Is it the same as the card ID where they take digital pics?
 
Depends on where you go. I know that the Centurion, Midrand and Malboro licensing departments require photos and that the operators are not competent enough to operate the eye test machines.

However, the DLTC in Centurion and the DLTC in Waterfall do not require photos and their staff know what they are doing. Literally done in 15 minutes.

If the one in Edenvale is a DLTC, then chance are it will the same as the DLTCs in Centurion and Waterfall.

You would only need to take your ID and proof of address.

Your drivers license is expired and they will require you to take out a temporary license. Unless you convince them that you will not drive for the next 6 weeks.
The temporary license is on a piece of printed paper and the physical photo needs to be pasted on with security strip over.
Take photos with.

Just get photos and go to the specsavers and get a driver license eye test done as well. Skip the queue for the eye test and you're covered for photos.

Take photos, ID, proof of residence, eye test report, cash, card and (obviously) your old licence card - also make sure the form you fill in is the folded version (ie. like a folder and loose papers).
Most of this is unnecessary but saves a bundle of headaches.

Oh, and always apply for the temporary licence (especially if you renew at the last minute), the card printer might k@k again and then you wait a couple of months for your card. Think of it as "peace of mind insurance".
 
sorry off topic i freaking nearly failed the eye test fck a lot changes in 5 years

No his card has expired, not the license. If the license was expired he would need to redo the entire test.
Plus he won't need a temporary one he has his current card and can keep the receipt. Seeing as the machine is broken anyway

Why would you pay for the temp? Did you lose the old card? That's what the temp is for.

Lets see what's the OP's experience.
I shared what was previously my experience.
 
Normally for me if your.card valid at time of renewal you good , just meep proof of renewal on you and old card

I hope you're not driving in this condition.
 
Did mine at waterfall 8 weeks ago..got the sms to come and collect last week..Their service is really good
