Light or lamp with a lithium battery

My magneto LED lamp has given up the ghost because the battery refuses to hold a reasonable amount of charge. To avoid chucking the whole thing away, I have tried finding 6V lithium ion batteries that will last longer than the LA batteries currently inside the thing, but they don't seem to exist.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good light or lamp with a lithium battery backup?
 
12V Lithium-Ion battery with a buck converter?

I would say, because of price, just get another Magneto. My Magneto is still good after a year of use. The only thing bothering me is the harsh white light. It would be nice to just be able to buy a new battery for it though.

I got a Forbatt 6v 4.5ah battery for R99. It fit perfectly in the Magnito and it is as good as new. During the Stage 6 load shedding it lasted the whole 4 hours at a time. A lot cheaper than replacing the lite.
 
Op a 8.4v lithium ion battery is very common and should work fine, either in li-polymer or 2x 18650 cells.
 
I find the magneto blindingly bright, so I started putting in the load shedding bulbs - eurolux ones works well.
I will use the magneto rather as a work light.

Didn't think of putting in a load shedding bulb into a lamp and just using that. Will take a look at getting some of these.

At R99 it made sense to me to go that way. I do not know if the charging rate and specs of the Magneto's charger will support a lithium battery as replacement. The original Magneto battery lasted more than 5 years. We have two and the other one is still going strong. We leave it plugged in on standby and the build in electronics take care of over charging. The one got disconnected switched on one weekend when were not home and the battery drained completely which caused the early failure.

Mine has lasted about three, but I use it regularly so not surprised it has gotten to the point where it no longer holds charge. Thought an LI battery would be a better solution even if it cost more, but I think load shedding bulbs will probably work best for what I want to do (just have some light in my room).

I bought a new battery at brights for a R139. Slight bigger capacity.

Where did you get it for R99. My googling led me to Brights.

Honestly just as good as the Magneto and it is warm white. Very happy with it. Basically a similar price as a new battery.

Funny enough I was on my way to buy a new Magneto when I drove past a small battery shop and I decided to try my luck and there it was on the shelve. Atlas Batteries in Welkom.

I use an Energizer Vision Rechargeable Lantern. Lithium-ion battery, works well.

Much easier to replace the battery in the Magneto.

The light is strong yes, but that's a good thing.
What works best for me is pointing it at the ceiling.

The loadshedding bulbs works great when new, but what I find a little impractical is leaving them on in order to recharge. Doesn't work so great with 2 to 3 outages a day though.
