hi,

I have a Macbook Pro, which doesnt have an ethernet connector.

I see there are a bunch of different ones available locally, but the price range really differs...!?

Are there some I need to stay away from? Do I need the most expensive one?

Thanks

I presume you mean "Thunderbolt/Displayport" to Ethernet?

You will be fine if you go for reputable brands - i.e. price the very cheap ones (possibly avoid), price the Apple one - then aim for the middle. Kanex, Anker, Moshi, Griffin etc. are decent brands.

Of course, the very cheapies might work just fine - I ordered a Thunderbolt >> DVI off DX.com for something like R150, and still going strong...

I guess if one was to take a chance with the cheaper products, then rather do it with an adaptor for external display outputs/ethernet, rather than with something involving power/charging - wouldn't feel comfortable taking a chance with the latter.

Just get a USB3 to gigabit Ethernet adapter.

That way you can sell it to someone else if you ever upgrade your laptop.
